“America belongs to Americans.”
Latin Americans are Americans.
The United States is for United States citizens and such others as United States law shall reasonably permit to be on US soil.
In the sense that Latin Americans, and Canadians as well, are residents of the American continents, that statement is true. However, in a historical sense, the United States was the first independent nation on the two continents, excluding the Indian tribes. The term American may be properly applied to the citizens of the United States, as distinguished from Canadians, Mexicans, Chileans, et. al. To the rest of the world, Americans are a distinct nationality from other countries in the Western Hemisphere.
Inn a similar vein, the term Caucasian can apply to both inhabitants of the Caucasus Mountains and to members of the white race. A Southerner can have the specific meaning of a person inhabiting the states of the former Confederacy and another specific meaning of inhabitants of the southern regions of other countries.
Please, let’s not over analyze the sh!t out of everything.
It’s pretty clear that I was not referring to “Latin Americans” or Northern American Canadians, or South American Argentinians, or any other stupid BS.
Pretty sure that everyone knows Americans are from America.
