Why would Cruz consider accepting the VP slot from a man he believes to be a pathological liar and narcissist?

I hope he is only being kind. Once I was a huge Cruz fan then TPA, Coker and a list too long to name. But then Trump believes strongly that people can change and he did encourage Cruz to get a court ruling on NBC.
You know people use “I was only...” for all kinds of nasty, unnecessary statements and actions and it never really works!
