What the heck is a “credentials committee” and why are they afraid to get REAL jobs?

I’m sure 99% of them have real jobs.

If you analyze the anti-Trump forces, several of them are insignificant and won’t be factors, such as the media who may appear to take sides but in fact benefit no matter who wins (witness FNC’s success since Obama). The political operatives and party officials are seeing how Trump is bringing a level of energy not seen before, and attracting tens of thousands to the Republican Party. The may be slow but they are not stupid - as they realize that there’s a big upside to Trump, they will indeed get behind him. The deal is being negotiated as we type.

Here’s an analogy: suppose you run a nice respectable restaurant. You cater to a certain class of people, who dress well and behave a certain way. But all of a sudden, your place is “discovered” by crowds of hipsters to have tatoos, dress outlandishly, and behave contrary to the standards you have set. But they come by the droves, tip well, and keep coming back and inviting others. You realize that it’s in your best interst to embrace the vulgarians as to do so is actually much better for you than the alternative.

The GOP has to protect and expand their majority in Congress if they’re going to be able to do anything, and those congressmen (as well as Governors and state races) represent millions of dollars for their party. As I say, they may be slow but they aren’t stupid.

Ah yes, credential committees - another vehicle the establishment uses to stack the deck in their favor.

It’s really something that there’s not a single part of the process beyond being tampered with.

Is this what you call conservative principles? Looks like “OK for me, but not for thee”.

Care to explain the hypocrisy, err, change of heart?

H/T to nclaurel for finding this gem!

We can just let the thread be.

Vet sees something in Cruz that we don’t. or once did.

He’s not insulting or derogatory, he just happens to be in the vast minority here.

Let’s focus on the Trump threads!

What the heck is a “credentials committee”

The credentials committee verifies the validity of the individual delegates to be seated. If two prospective delegates (or two prospective slates of delegates) claim the right to be seated then the committee decides. Delegates may be challenged for things like being a crook, immorality, citizenship and other stuff.

I can see Trump challenging all delegates pledged to Cruz on the basis that Cruz is ineligible to hold the office of President.

Excellent

Start a long legal battle before seating any delegates. Probably lead to suspending regular order.

And if you don't "get with the tattoed hipsters program", then perhaps you were a "certain class" all along...

Part of the Obama/Romney/Clinton/Bush entourage.

The 2ndDiv Cruzanity Challenge.

Any 2ndDiv Cruzanity [Cruz Vanity] article post, we just let the thread be - except to give a heads-up for the cowpie minefield...

it doesn’t matter what Trump said, in context, responding to Cruz refusing to acknowledge his own pledge moments before. Cruz doesn’t get special participation points for refusing to acknowledge a pledge.

another non-issue

I guess if one ignores the fact that the GOP has been dabbling with new rules and tabling their implementation until later on down the road, then the rest of this makes sense - the GOPe is still flailing about trying to find a way to make their own SELECTION.

Not me.... I put up a sign that says "Shoes and Shirts required. No Tattooed Hipsters". And I raise the fee to come in. At the end of the day, I ran a nice respectable restraunt because that's what I wanted to own, and because I believe in this country you should have the freedom to run the business of your choice.
