“The elder Cruz is a Cuban native who left the country in 1957 after fighting in the country’s revolution that brought long-time leader Fidel Castro to power. “

There are Cruz people that still think Trump’s dad was part of the KKK.

But this guy? Oh man, he’s seen as a rock star!

From an early thread:
Sounds like Pa was not a fighter for his country or loyal to his women, and an opportunist. All may be inherited characteristics.

Pa-He claimed to be an enemy of the Batista regime and loyal to Fidel Castro, but when they began to fight, he chose ‘flight’ to Texas. Got himself some higher education. Four years later, being subject to the Vietnam War draft, he chose ‘flight’ to Canada. Leaving a booming Texas oil economy w his lil woman in tow.

Pa purportedly had married an American woman while still remaining a Cuban with a Refuge-status card. Pa remarries a second American citizen, Eleanor, and they emigrate north to Canada. They call their baby ‘Felito’ as in little Fidel. Pa reportedly deserts his wife and baby ‘Felito’ age 3 in the foreign country (Canada). They eventually reunite in Texas. In 2005, after nearly 50 years post-Cubano and timed with Felito-Ted’s entrance to politics, Pa becomes a US citizen.

Well, let’s return to the 70’s. Suppose something had happened to Felito’s Mama? Papa and young Felito could have flown directly to Havana and they both would have been accepted as Cuban citizens. Or, What if they stayed another 10-20 years in Canada? - You don’t come waltzing in as a NBC American.
That dog don’t hunt!
