I have been studying health care policy for 20 years now. I am also a multi-state licensed health insurance broker who continues to operate in an increasingly less competitive and more bureaucratically controlled system on both the federal and state level. During the last 20 years I have seen a lot of changes in the U.S. health care system. Some of them good (HIPAA) and some bad (Reaganâs EMTALA) the PPACA a.k.a. âObamacareâ etc.
During the last two decades I have read everything I could get my hands on pertaining to health care policy. I also spent the longest two weeks of my entire life reading the PPACA â Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act â shortly after it was passed into law on March 23, 2010. I have also appeared on television, radio and written expert commentary on health care policy on this blog and for professional business journals around the country. If there is one thing I know it is health care policy and if there is another thing I know it is a lie when I hear it.
I have bit my tongue long enough. As a delegate for Senator Ted Cruz I have been placed into a difficult and increasingly uncomfortable position and now I have had enough! Continuing to support Senator Cruz after he repeats incorrectly and ad nauseum that âA vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Obamacareâ and, that âif you vote Donald Trump, you vote for Bernie Sanders-style socialized medicine.â Or even worse that Trump, Clinton and Sanders âhave the identical position on health careâ has forced me into a crisis of conscience. These are statements that even the left leaning Politifact has correctly identified as FALSE.

That would be a great thing!
And your question deserves an answer that is better than a raspberry.
Like I pointed out, this is an improvement yet. Sometimes God acts that way, to see if we will accept one measure of His grace with gratefulness before He furnishes more.
But let’s get on the same blue-sky wavelength as Donald himself seems to be. Donald doesn’t know a path to something like this. He’s feeling it out as best he knows and is going in the right direction.
By all means let’s keep on think-tanking towards how to get there... but one thing, just dropping the American people on their butts, rudely, is not going to fly just because you pride yourself on where you are. If we are to consider your ideas, consider reciprocating by considering ours, which would involve more evolution than revolution.

Did I stutter?
why don’t you click on the links in the blog article and read the excerpts from Trumps two books. The part where he lays out how he will repeal obamacare, open up the insurance market to competition across state boundaries, reduce mandated coverages (through increased competition) and pursue tort reform / loser pays. These are all similar to the MacKey 8 point plan published on his blog a few years back.

He does say that the government should only be the backup to ensure that the worse off in society have access to insurance.
The term “intellectual laziness” applies here as the blogger also points out...
Jim Rob, have you given thought to the idea?
FR already gets browsed by the cognoscenti in the conservative world. We know that.
Why not propose that to Donald, and yes if he tweets, he probably would be copacetic with the communication methodology here.
However he won’t suffer fools gladly, and he might say some rude things. We would want to be careful before “banning Donald.” We have to understand his manner.
That is a pitiful attack. When you post a portion of someone’s words to get people to believe your slanted pictures you are being intellectually dishonest...just like the leftists...just like the media...hmmm wonder why that tactic comes so easily to you?
Then you disparage and try to diminish a person by calling them a good girl and telling them to watch TV. Could it be because you are intellectual bankrupt other than your venom and have no other way to attack the ideas so you can only attack the person...like the left...like the media?
Does that kind of attack really belong here on Free Republic or are you just slumming?
Nope, you just read an old book before Donald’s mind was further expanded...
Its the part they left out. We take care of the indigent now...we still will with Trump’s plan but I bet they will get better care and it will cost us less.
Don’t be frustrated.
Trump simply said single payer is best and we could have done it at one time, but is not practical now.
He very clearly stated all people should be covered under a government health care and that single payer is the best way to do it.
He never said it could never be implemented.
If people are against this, they better not vote for Trump.
They are there now. They have been there since Hitlery dismantled the charity network and forced the charity hospitals to close by exposing the $/cents to the healthcare insurers when she tried to take over healthcare during Bill’s term.
Doesn't matter. They are both SOCIALIZED medicine. Don't know why that's so hard to understand. Free market/free people or socialized medicine where the Govt gets to play patty cake with our lives....
AT WHAT TIME...
Donald deals with the best he understands AT A GIVEN TIME...
He has demonstrated this over and over.
What do YOU not understand here.
Yes. Its from 2000, he explained that he was referring to taking care of the indigent. Your quote is from a book. There is a lot more there than those few sentences.
While he lacks specifics, the biggest problem with Trump and the healthcare issue is he believes that there is a top-down government-mandated solution, where Cruz proposals all support private sector free market solutions.

You are going to find in this real world that absolutism will get you nowhere.
You want absolutism, go OUTSIDE of this world, to Jesus Christ and His absolutes.
Everything else is world. We will find that, because of God’s grace towards it in spite of its sins, that it can be done good without absolutism, even though moving in a generally good direction.
I retired after working 25 years for a city fire department. During that time I went on tens of thousands of medical aid calls and assisted in the transports of thousands and thousands of persons to the hospital. I hate to break it to people here but in my experience no one ever gets turned away... ever.
We had one alcoholic/ drug addict transient who lived on the streets of our town for many years. He was given a free apartment for a while but got himself kicked out. People on my department even got in trouble for taking up a collection and sending him back to the Indian reservation in North Dakota where he came from. His relatives sent him back almost immediately and complained.
The guy, ran up $2,000,000 in unpaid ambulance, hospital, and doctor fees. But still no one would turn him away. We were not allowed to by protocol. I am not sure if Mr. Trump, or Sen. Cruz, or Hillary Clinton or the rest of the candidates are aware of these types of situations, but in our country in my experience no one is denied emergency medical care. It just doesn’t happen and we all pay for it because the cost of the people who don’t pay are spread around to those of us who do one way or another.
A lot of what is said by the candidates about the low income and emergency medical care is just plain silly sounding to those who are health care providers.
The other thing that one notices is that people who go to the doctor for any little thing are on the average less healthy than those of us who avoid medical care as much as possible. If you keep going to the doctor... they will keep prescribing medicines or other medical procedures that often do not do much of anything to improve your health. The way to stay healthy is to live a healthy life style. Eat right, exercise, wash your hands, take care of your teeth, wear sun screen, avoid risky behaviors and locations, don’t smoke, and avoid alcohol and recreational drugs. You might still get sick or injured but your chances of staying healthy are a lot greater.
Good point... “WHAT IS THIS ‘DRAGGING’ BUSINESS?”
Trump is not for socialized medicine. Please for your country’s sake do your homework. He is using words that other people have perverted like “universal health care”. He is talking about the segment of our society that is being supported by the Government now, the safety net and saying they can’t be left out of a solution...we must have a healthcare solution that will care for everyone in America. But he has said this is a separate proposition and the vast majority of Americans need a market based solution, which has been defined many times in this thread. It is willful blindness to confuse that with Soialized Medicine.
Again, a lie, a complete falsification of Trump’s position on healthcare solutions. See Post 38
Trump might try to take the bull by the horns here.
If there are going to be charity cases, he might want to spread the pain out more evenly.
