Over 16 years ago I was very upset with the vapid and shallow reason that my Mother-In-Law hated George Bush. Her reason? She didn’t like the way his mouth looked when he smiled.
I do not have an MD, not am I trained in psychiatry, but I put this current opinion in the same category.
If physical good looks were the only qualification for President, Rubio would be on top, and Trump at the very bottom with his silly comb-over.
And Christie would not even be allowed to run.
Law enforcement sometimes have the same problem.
Oh c’mon. The guy can’t help what he looks like. Although my wife never fails to comment on it in a highly derogatory way.
His phony politi-vangelist schtick is what grates me. I already have a President that has me hitting the mute button, I don’t need another.
He’d be just fine as a second chair though.
Well, the writer is probably unaware that Ted Cruz has a mutant face made of play dough. Of course it doesn’t work like a normal human face.
And I’m sure Trump’s eye rolling and goofy facial expressions are just fine for you.
Richard E. Cytowic M.D makes me uneasy.
Is this what they teach in medical school these days? Is the author a real medical doctor with ethical medical standards, or is he a quack?
OK
what does hillary’s face say....
what difference does it make
what does bernies face say....
ate too much VT tree bark and free welfare cheese while memorizing MARX
BOBBLEHEADS and SEIU and Soros PUT OBAMA IN TWICE (plus voter fraud)
now population reduction zika vaccine gates will put Bernie in....
ITS NOT WHO VOTES
ITS WHO COUNTS THE VOTES
It has merit, as far as politics goes.
This has been known since the Greeks.
Some people are charismatic and find it easy to persuade, others don’t, and they try hard to compensate.
Cruz is not a natural, Bush and Bill Clinton are.
Cruz is using his mind to give him what his body hasn’t.
I have the same reaction. There’s something not genuine about his smile. It’s like he’s always laughing to himself about something.
Baloney. It's easy to make a lifted-cheek, eye-crinkling smile. It's just the start of a laugh.
Ted Cruz has a face with eyes that go down at the outside corners. It's a kind of face that to me seems on the far masculine side of the spectrum, common among soldiers, athletes and sociopaths, which is not to say that most men with that face are sociopaths. But it elicits some wariness - this might be a bad guy, or at least a tough guy.
The neurologist-author forgot to mention one tool of the trade, Botox, which might account for less mobility around the eyes.
I hate Psychology Today, but this article has some merit. I know people, including conservatives, who have a problem with Cruz’s face — not in esthetics but in that same lack of genuine expression the article is speaking about.
I feel like I may be a bad judge of this. I have been fooled by people because I tend to ascribe to them the best of emotions and intentions out of my own personality. But there are others who “knew something was off” right away about some sneaky people.
I never got a weird vibe about Cruz’s looks. But I’ve heard this before. And the article here asks you to google Ted Cruz smile and look at the images, so I did. I only saw 2 out of the first 100 pics of him smiling that had the eyes crinkling in joy. However, I could give him the benefit of the doubt: he may have a phony “photo smile” for the ones where he was posing for the camera. Lots of people do.
However, some catch him while he is speaking, and he can’t be thinking about cameras every second. These are the ones where he carries that expression like when he talks about his saintly parents or such, that “looking down on you people and giving my holy stump speech” look that he gets, when he pauses for emphasis a lot. It is not pleasant to listen to because it seems so canned and he seems to enjoy giving it. There is a disconnect.
I wish he were more real sounding. Maybe the non Duchenne smiles are telling people who read faces super well that he is not genuine. Or not: Rubio has big genuine smiles like Obama, which to me sets off my gaydar. Hetero men don’t smile that big.
The source, Psychology Today, is a rag that is a big pusher of homosexuality, shock treatment, drugging little kids, branding everyone as mentally ill, and pushing every aspect of the leftwing agenda under the false guise of Science.
Most of the libs I know enjoy hating on Trump's hair.
Important issues like that belong with our lib buddies......
I grew up with livestock. When I was three a horse kicked me in the back of the head and sent me unconscious to the hospital. If I lose my hair, people are probably going to point because over half a century later I still have a significant indentation in the back of my head. Everyone else in my family had very good hand to eye coordination. Not me, I was never very good at playing games with balls. I excelled at endurance sports such as swimming, running and bicycle racing winning state championships and competing at the national level, but no one ever wanted me on their baseball or basketball team.
Who knows maybe Ted had some type of unfortunate accident like what happened to me when he was a kid playing up in Alberta. Maybe that creepy unsettled feeling that Ted Cruz gives a lot of people is just the result of an unfortunate accident and not a sign that he is an untrustworthy, unsociable, sneaky, megalomaniac politician. Stranger things have happened.
Cruz’s expressions have always creeped me.
No Psychology Today giving me advice! No group of frauds who moved homosexuality from a disorder to normal and now close to doing the same about pediophilia being normal, just because as a bunch of perverts into the normal category have any basis for making judgements to me!
I remember when the 8pm-er on FoxNews (BOR) used to have a facial expression “expert” on and they’d view videos.
Dumbest segments ever. Eventually he dropped it.
