That’s good, except the people of Guam are going to have to hurry over to vote in the Iowa caucus!
“I believe the difference is that McVain was born to an active-duty American soldier. Cruz was not.”
McCain was the son of an active duty naval officer, and he was born in Panama, in a hospital just outside the boundary of the U.S. Panama Canal Zone. It makes no difference whether McCain was born in Panama, inside the U.S. Panama Canal Zone, or as the son of a U.S. citizen father who was a U.S. Naval officer. McCain was born abroad, which means he acquired U.S. citizenship by naturalization, and naturalized U.S. citizens are not eligible to be POTUS. The fuss they went through about his birth in the Panama Canal Zone was only a smokescreen used to divert public attention away from the fact McCain was an ineligible naturalized U.S. citizen.
“Save it for your next JBS meeting.”
That remark does nothing to change the fact that Ted Cruz is a naturalized U.S. citizen and is therefore ineligible to be POTUS.
Good, the more popular Cruz and Trump become, the farther behind turds like Rubio and Bush get, which makes it less probable the GOPe can cram Rubio or Bush down our throats.
Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, and Nikki Haley are also naturalized U.S. citizens who are ineligible to be POTUS.
Definitely. IMO, Cruz showed an incredible lack of discernment by jumping into the race without clearing this up definitively. The issue has been bouncing around out there for a very long time — months, maybe years — ago. Imagine ponying up so much money, taking out loans, seeking donors, recruiting staff, etc., with that issue hanging out there. Not smart.
Yikes! Glad he never was elected — the slimy SOB.
“Save it for your next JBS meeting.”
i couldn’t recall what “JBS” was supposed to represent, because it wasn’t the same letters a an accounting system I know or the JBL speakers. I finally resorted to a search for the term that produced the John Birch Society. Sorry to disappoint you, there is no connection to the John Birch Society whatsoever. So, your taunt is a failure.
More wishful thinking............
Lot of Americans are not born on US Soil. We have a lot of Military bases around the world. They are not US Soil. Step Daughter was born on US Navy Base in Japan and held dual citizenship until she was 18, when her dad reminded her she had to choose, as she had no clue she had both.
Look, all of Ted’s supporters can stomp their feet and shout invectives all you wish. The reality is this issue will not go away. And to those of us that think it means something where you are born it just looks pretty silly when u all are blindfolded and playing pin the tail on the Canadian. It is what it is and all the name calling in the world won’t change it. I hope he gets it adjudicated one way or the other.
No.
“No”
Yes, Ted Cruz is a naturalized U.S. citizen, and here are the statutes, U.S. State Department manual, and Supreme Court of the United States case law that sa and prove a child like Ted Cruz was a naturalized U.S. citizen:

66 Stat. Public Law 414 - June 27, 1952. TITLE III - NATIONALITY AND NATURALIZATION. Chapter 1 - Nationality at Birth and by Collective Naturalization. NATIONALS AND CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AT BIRTH. Sec. 301. (a) The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth; . . . (7) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than ten years, at lest five of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years: Provided, That any periods of honorable service in the Armed Forces of the United States by such citizen parent may be included in computing the physical presence requirements of this paragraph.

Note this law naturalizes a child born abroad with a parent who is a U.S. citizen, so such a child and Ted Cruz are naturalized U.S. citizens by the authority of this law.
The U.S. State Department Foreign Affairs Manual acknowledges that immigration and naturalization law and says such a child and Ted Cruz were born abroad and naturalized as U.S. citizens.

U.S. Department of State Foreign Affairs Manual Volume 7
Consular Affairs. 7 FAM 1151 INTRODUCTION... b. 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(23); INA 101(a)(23)) defines naturalization as the conferring of nationality of a state upon a person after birth by any means whatsoever. . . For the purposes of this subchapter naturalization includes:... (5) “Automatic” acquisition of U.S. citizenship after birth, a form of naturalization by certain children born abroad to U.S. citizen parents or children adopted abroad by U.S. citizen parents.

[The Supreme Court of the United States also decided a child born abroad such as Ted Cruz can only “become a citizen by being naturalized.â”

Politicians don’t support non-politicians.
They live in Germany right now, she has said a lot of nice things about her island, hopes we visit there with her some day.
The modern definition of "paradise".
For some, including me, the technical aspects of the law are less important than the actual fact that Cruz was indeed born in Canada. I believe that it is important for an American president to be steeped in American culture and fanatical in his or her love for country. Cruz may be, but this precedent would allow for future presidents to be born in Iran, Russia, Libya... And ALSO raised there. How can you possibly think that this would be good?
Srlsly. In *Iowa*?
"Yeah, I heard it at the Maid-Rite. The Governor of Guam is voting for Cruz! We've got to change our votes from Trump!"

Surely, if nothing else, THIS is the Tipping Point...
