Listened to a little Savage this week and he seems to be abandoning any pretense of being a conservative. He was praising the hippie movement of the 1960s. He took a caller who was an “ex-hippie” and said she’s pro-choice and is supporting Trump, and was praising her and giving her lots of air-time. Savage kept bashing both the “left-wing” and “right-wing,” basically saying we needed a moderate, or something.

I’m seeing the same thing all over Twitter from Trump supporters. I get ripped by Trump supporters for being part of the “conservative establishment.” This feels like a real cult of personality around Trump, based on no issues at all, just vague beliefs that he’ll fix everything. Many of his supporters have no loyalty to the conservative movement, our beliefs, our ideology, etc. He’s becoming the Jeb or Romney “fix-it” guy now. I assumed Trump would swing further away from conservatism in the general election but I’m surprised it’s happening before the first primary.

I can understand why every single New Yorker, either from there or living there currently, supports Trump because of the hometown advantage. That covers Savage, Geraldo, Giuliani, Peter King, etc. There’s so many New Yorkers in the media and on Fox that Trump is getting a lot of sweetheart coverage now.

I'm seeing the same thing all over Twitter from Trump supporters. I get ripped by Trump supporters for being part of the "conservative establishment." This feels like a real cult of personality around Trump, based on no issues at all, just vague beliefs that he'll fix everything.

Trump has voiced the same concerns that many Americans, both Democrat and Republicans have and was the first one to really hammer home his sincere concern about the illegal invader problem. The rest have all jumped on the band wagon now that they can see it is not going to sink them. But I believe the one of the primary reason he has such wide appeal is that people want to believe that there is someone who can lead this country out of the mess we are now in.

Who are they most likely to put their faith in? A typical politician like Jeb, Marco, Kasich, Santorum, or Christie, the firebrand politicians, Paul or Cruz, the black surgeon, Carson, the former woman CEO, Fiorina, the sleaziest woman whoever lived, Hillary, an old communist hippy Sanders, or a bigger than life reality TV Star Billionaire, Trump whose name they are very familiar with and is synonymous with success...

Who they would choose is a no-brainer, and then when it turns out that Trump has seemingly limitless energy and puts on a better more professional show than any of the other candidates it is even more impressive. Then it turns out he has a unique ability to push the media around like they are a bunch of chumps. There is no question that he outshines all the other characters in the Demopublican greatest show on earth. Even before the voting begins he looks like an unstoppable force.

We are very lucky that Trump has many conservative views and has chosen to be on our side and wants to turn back the crap Obama has saddled our country with. Our country is in a crisis, Trump has successfully cast himself as the powerful leader we need to dig ourselves out of the mess we are now in.

I am not sensing that he is backing away from any of the conservative principles he now claims to have. As far as his followers... who knows... he seems to have a great deal of crossover appeal and like Obama people tend to project their beliefs on him.

Conservative? That manic-depressive nutjob donated to Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown for governor of CA for pity's sake. What was funny was how he interviewed Trump on-air then after the attack on Ben Carson by Trump, Savage really went after him. Trump, who is obviously very good at reading people and what is needed to get back into a better negotiating position, went back in Savage's show and kissed his butt saying, "Michael you would have gone after him even harder than I did!" That was all Savage needed; a bit of an ego stroke and assurance that he was even more of a tough guy than Trump and he's been onboard 100% ever since. Like putty in Trump's hands.

I swear it's like people are hypnotized. I've never seen anything like it. Well, since President Zero showed up on the scene.
