Now you’ve ruined MY day, by showing that Gravis poll “result”. It’s my understanding that Gravis is a pretend company; that they have no heasquarters, do NO actual polling; don’t even own one landline telephone. That they pull their numbers out of thin air. However, it’s the GOPe’s official pollster outfit, or USED to be, anyhow.

Blah blah.

Cruz opened a whole new front against The Donald, and it will take exactly 2.5 weeks to see how that worked out.

Everything else is premature speculation.

It’s frightening to me. Up until now they have hated Trump constantly. When the liberals and the media are singing your praises, something is very wrong.

I am a Trump supporter but I am worried that Cruz is winning the NY values argument, and is, in fact, playing it very well, and that Trump, instead of reminding people of what the Trump candidacy is all about and just ignoring the NY values BS, is allowing Cruz to sidetrack Trump into defending NY.
At first I thought Cruz was making a rookie mistake. Now I think that Cruz made a deft move. I hope that it is not enough to alter the dynamics of the race, and if Trump did what I suggest, stay focused on what his campaign is about, it would not alter the dynamics of the race. But I am worried at the moment that Trump has fallen into a trap laid by Cruz and does not yet even realize it.

That was the last minute of the debate, when most people had gone to bed.

It was a solid thrashing. Cruz could refute it. But he isn’t. I think Cruz is ignoring Rubio who is essentially defeated, and focusing only on Trump.

That’s smart.

It doesn’t mean Rubio didn’t land a solid blow. It was just irrelevant this late and after Cruz had just defined the race as Trump V. Cruz.

The media really wants Rubio. After Cruz is done, then Trump will fall because he has gone too far too.

Hillary tried to use 9/11 for political gain too. That is the wrong place to go. It didn’t work for her and it won’t work for Donald. He can argue with Ted without using 9/11 as a political football. Thinking Americans will reject that eventually just as they did for Hillary.

Overall, I believe Trump won the debate and the reason is what is being less discussed than the Cruz dust-ups:

His answer to the Nikki question.

He owned his anger. That was masterful.

THAT is what Trump should focus on, not the NY values BS which Cruz is using as a distraction.

If Trump stays focused on TRUMP and not on the lesser candidates, like Cruz, Trump will win hands down across the nation.

Build the wall.

Tell the truth about Islam.

Tell the truth about PC in general.

2nd Amendment rights

Revive the economy.

The rest is Cruz/media BS.

“...he (Trump) was the winner and looked like the LEADER he is.”

Definitely! From the day Trump announced he seemed presidential. I wasn’t “for” him then, but he did get my attention. As I listened to him and his platform I moved into his camp.

He may be supporting ideology he hadn’t many years ago, but I think that only means that he’s receptive to listening to others, e.g., Jeff Sessions, et al., and be “converted”. Listening to reason, and understanding it, isn’t a bad thing.

Cruz offering Trump the VP slot was a hoot. As if Trump would hitch his wagon to that “star”. Trump doesn’t like to lose; Cruz will lose — against the Dem candidate.

Personally, I thought The Donald was brilliant ! I felt like the viewers won because Trump brought to light the natural born situation that needs to be settled, most of us not even aware Cruz had a Canadian citizenship issue, before the General Election.

Well I tell you what gets me about NYC. I couldn’t even be a tourist there. O’Reilly and Watters showed tons of completely nude women out on the streets in crowds, collecting tips by posing for photos etc. That’s how they make their “living”.
Meanwhile, little children, foreign visitors etc are forced to see this just to visit the city.

If someone came to the center of my city and walked around nude, they would be arrested and taken off. Thank goodness. Let NY values stay there IMO.

“Those that stay with their brains see Cruz as the smartest and most logical.”

Cruz may be the “smartest and most logical” in some areas. Eggheads in ivory towers are fine, and they definitely have their place. In other areas Trump is the smartest and most logical. Businessmen who build, negotiate, and create jobs for thousands have their place as well. Some just think; some think and do.

You're very kind -- too kind in fact about "always" right!I was wrong when I used to claim that Donald Trump voted for Obama in 2008 (I did my due diligence and discovered that in 2008 as a Democrat, Trump formally endorsed McCain), wrong when I brought up the four bankruptcies Trump has filed as evidence against him (a FRiend set me straight that in fact they were honorable Chapt. 11 bankruptcies that helped save jobs and companies)....

I won't knowingly tell an untruth about any candidate, even one I think is a dangerous bad risk and fundamental leftist. Donald Trump, on the other hand, HAS told at least one bold-faced lie -- I saw him speak the words and heard them with my own ears, "Now Ted just switched his views on ethanol. He was totally against ethanol, now all the sudden he's for it, you know, it's Iowa and he's for it."

One hundred percent total falsehood on Trump's part; the man lied to an audience in order to "win" people to his side on a false premise.

Guys who have to lie to win are losers even when they win. That's a fact of life most people figure out on the playground by the time they're in third grade. Allowing anger to be one's guide is a big, big mistake. It appears to me that most of the support for Donald Trump is based on anger against pretty much everything in general.

Whereas most if not all of the support for Ted Cruz is based on CONFIDENCE IN THE U.S. CONSTITUTION and limited government conservatism.

I realized recently I was wrong about the Trump voting also. You have a clarifying vision in your posts that I like very much. A vote for Cruz is a clear vote for the constitution.
Game on. Will see how the votes go.

Cruz wasn't an egghead in an ivory tower when he stood in Congress for 21 hours in order to fight Obamacare.

Trump may be able to negotiate deals to build impressive office towers and casinos, people like him definitely have their place. But understand, Mayflower Madam, that Donald Trump is a 3rd tier "winner" at best in his own game of real estate mogul billionaire. There many businessmen in America who are as smart or smarter, make better deals, and are FAR more prosperous than Donald Trump at the same game.

Guys like Ted Cruz, who stood and talked for 21 hours straight in Congress in order to frustrate Obamacare, on the other hand, are extremely rare.

Businessmen "who build, netogiate and create jobs," who both think and "do" as good or better than Trump, are a dime a dozen. They are in relative context quite common. What's rare is that so very, very few of America's billionaires seek and manufacture fame to go along with their fortune. Donald Trump DID.

Trump is a bad risk. Evidence is piling up in front of Americans what a bad risk he is.

Ted Cruz smoked Donald Trump and then served him up like lox on a bagel with cream cheese during the debate on the birther issue. It's obvious to minds free of anger that watch the 7-minute video linked in post #12.

Trump is an angry self-absorbed man. Anger is a weakness when indulged. It is only a strength when it is assessed and then put aside to make room for a cool head.

Dump Trump. Choose Cruz. The time is NOW.

Thank you, MayflowerMadam, at least you get it. The "higher than Thou' people on this forum just do not.

Until 9/11/2001, I considered myself an independent, or slightly left wing. That day changed everything for me, I got it, and became a Republican. I was naive, but woke up and saw the difference between left and right wing.

Well, at least I thought I did. Again, naive.

Donald Trump opened my eyes and exposed how little difference there is between the current Democrats and Republicans. There is none.

I now consider myself a conservative.

We grow and change, and our ideologies are adjusted accordingly.
