That was an unfortunate gaffe for Ted Cruz. He should have stuck with his previous standard response which was that he was not going to play the media’s game about picking winners and losers and that he would instead focus on his campaign. Now he has recorded that Donald Trump will not be the nominee and if he’s wrong his future will always refer back to this false prediction.

I’ve been one of Cruz’ strongest defenders, but I’ve seen the reality which is that Donald Trump is a patriot who draws from all demographics of America more broadly than that of Ted Cruz’ supporters.

Because of the imbalance in broad appeal, I’ve envisioned Ted Cruz as Donald’s running mate allowing up to two terms for the nation to get to know Ted Cruz before he would run as President again, and he’s only 44 years old so there’s plenty of time. But this gaffe is just what the leftist media have been waiting for as an opening to a ‘divide and conquer’ opportunity.

I pray Ted corrects the impression he has made as Ben Carson did about Donald’s faith. I think he will.

I don’t see Trump picking Cruz as a running mate, if the two of them even stay in the race that long. Each man is very similar to the other in certain ways they handle the public and with their erstwhile conservative messages. Donald can be so in your face confrontational, that I think he would be advised to pick someone who appeals to people that do not care much for Donald.

I suspect he would pick someone very well spoken, and professional in demeanor. Someone less known for rocking the boat or destroying the boat completely. Donald his almost 70 y/o Seventy! He will wish to offset his age with youth. Think of the poorly treated Dan Quayle.

I think Donald will have his 12 year old son call up one of Marco’s sons and invite him to a soccer game in the neighborhood. Marco’s first impluse will be to say (Hell!) no, you can’t go to any ball game with Trump’s son. But then, by that time, Marco would already have run out of money and left the race, so he’ll think it over, and agree.

Reminds me of Newt when he said with all assurance: “I will be the nominee” (or next President, whatever it was) way back in early 2012. Well, how’d that turn out for ya, Newt!
