Also, I don't remember "hundreds and hundreds" of Freepers being banned during the Rudy Giuliani run. Are you sure you are correct about that? I don't even remember much about the Giuliani campaign except it was a short lived train wreck. I think his strategy was to bypass the early primary contests and focus on making a good showing in the Florida primary.
Not that I can say I blamed him. Iowa and New Hampshire are bitter cold in January and February and Florida is a nice place to be in those months. But he had a poor showing in Florida and had to drop from the race.
As for Trump, I still can't figure out his hair. But he seems to be an ardent campaigner, in fact he was giving a speech in Iowa today for over an hour, without a teleprompter, and got some good crowds. This is months before the Iowa caucus. There is still a lot of corn growing out there. But this did not stop Trump from campaigning there, bad hair and all.
IMHO, Trump’s hair started out as a bad comb over....that has become a trademark.
I’m still wondering how he got it to fit under a ball cap when he was at the border. :)
I was a vocal Giuliani supporter, and I was never banned or chastised.
I also never argued with JimRob, I understand his POV on this and I never disrespected him or the arguments he was defending.
And I’ve never complained or said “I told you so”.
A lot of people who were banned (certainly less than 20) were disrespectful in their arguments.
As for Trump, I still can’t figure out his hair.
1. Grow your hair about 5 or 6 inches long at the crown.
2. Use styling gel.
3. Comb it all into a little platform and aim for the mirror in front of you.
4. Use hair spray.
5. Touch up the platform every three hours with more hair spray.
I am against the banning of Trump supporters on this forum, in large part because I am a Trump supporter and I like it here on Free Republic. I would not like to be banned.
As for Trump’s hair, there was a pic in one of the recent FR fundraising posts, the one where he’s leaning forward over a negotiating table with his hands on the table, which finally solved the mystery for me. The key is that he’s actually got TWO comb overs going on, not just one. He’s got the one that comes from the back of his head, but it’s buttressed by a smaller one that comes from the side of his head. There’s a seam between the two that’s usually not visible but in that particular pic you can see it. I’m an engineer and I’ve put a fair amount of thought into the mechanics of Trump’s hair, because it really is a puzzle.
