Because the biggest hurdle to conservative change is overcoming the gop leadership. This is a fairly new revelation to conservatives. I think after 2014 the republican base now realizes that even when we win we lose. I think there is a hope that trump will bring frank and honest conversation into washington, even if we disagree on many issues

Final nail. You always got the feeling prior they had a plan and would spring it. There never was a plan except a plan to pay off the cronies.

Ted Cruz is on fire exposing this right now.

You said it well. Our first problem is overcoming the GOPe. And Trump is trying to do it.

Four years ago I didn’t feel GOPe was our primary problem. Now I do.

Needs repeating over and over.

It is this small group of leaders who are problem, priority number one is removing them and replacing them with conservatives that won’t be bought. Principled conservatism would destroy the Democrats on election days.
