RE: Perot 2.0
Perot was MOST responsible for getting Bill Clinton elected in 1992.
Clinton only got 43% of the vote. Papa Bush got 38%, and get this — Perot got 19% !!
Many pollsters believe that he siphoned votes out of REPUBLICANS.
If Trump is today’s Perot, then (God forbid) we’ll have a repeat of 1992 with ANOTHER Clinton in Power.
Nope, it was Mr. "Read My Lips" that got Clinton elected.
If the nose-holders let go of their noses, Trump wins.
Yeb Bush is not an appealing candidate.
Then, my advice to the GOPe’s is don’t ignore the concerns of your base
and you won’t have the Trumps and Perot’s running as independents.
If the GOP had nominated a pro American in ‘92 , Perot wouldn’t have been an issue.
No. That's a myth.
Exit polls from 1992 said that Perot drew votes equally from Poppy Bush and Slick Willy.
What's more, the Perot circus drew millions of voters into the process who would not have voted at all. The popular vote increased by almost 13 million from 1988 to 1992, and dropped by about 8 million from 1992 to 1996.
In the polling prior to the election, Bush NEVER came even close to Clinton. Even after Perot dropped out of the race, Bush was never able to get above 38% in the polling. Perot or no Perot, Bush would have lost.
“Perot was MOST responsible for getting Bill Clinton elected in 1992.”
Actually it was BUSH...once he decided he wasn’t a conservative. Reagan also had a Third Party type to deal with in 1980 (John Anderson), but Reagan never strayed from being a conservative, so he held the Republican vote.
Bush as SO DAMN STUPID to think that he could win the Sierra Club vote. What an IDIOT.
The Naitonal debt and the trade policies they push for NAFTA and such were their[GOP] downfall.
Perot merely reflected the country and the time, and he was right then and right now.
The GOP has never addressed such concerns and that is why they are currently fractured. The GOP has driven out the populist[Debt, illegal immigration, trade policies, spending] side of their party to their doom.
