He was a lousy choice! He'd have used government as much as any Democrat, and we'd have endorsed it with our vote. We'd have said, "yep, that's what we want."
I refuse to vote for something I believe is destroying freedom and prosperity, and that is the use of government to advance charity, among other things. In "conservatives" of Huckabee's ilk, "conservative" is code for "Christian" and little else. In his eyes, charity is a Christian duty and therefore the government should do it a Christian way.
In "conservatives" of Cruz's ilk, "conservative" refers to the use of government. "Conservative," as in, "with restraint." That's the only kind of "conservative" I'm interested in.
I'm sorry, but Huckabee was pro government all the way, and never was and will never be a "reasonable" choice to vote for.
Deace supported Huckabee as a matter of evangelical solidarity. There are indeed several better overall choices now.
Thanks for that well written statement about the difference between Cruz’s “conservative” v. Huckabee’s “conservative”.
Very well stated .. and if I might suggest .. you should probably continue to state that so people can discover the difference.
I am definitely in Cruz’s camp.
