Deace is NOT a kingmaker!!!
He has been off the radio for a long time; I haven’t heard his voice in years.
But he did shill for Huck when he had his radio show; a lot.
See post #9.
You forgot the "sarq"
"barf"
...a bad joke & not funny.
He has been off the radio for a long time; I havent heard his voice in years.
He used to be the host here in Des Moines on 50,000 watt WHO. From 4:00 to 7:00; so he had a big influence here. Not he is on more stations it looks like; but pretty much vanished from where he started.
Not judging; just observing from my market.
He was a lousy choice! He'd have used government as much as any Democrat, and we'd have endorsed it with our vote. We'd have said, "yep, that's what we want."
I refuse to vote for something I believe is destroying freedom and prosperity, and that is the use of government to advance charity, among other things. In "conservatives" of Huckabee's ilk, "conservative" is code for "Christian" and little else. In his eyes, charity is a Christian duty and therefore the government should do it a Christian way.
In "conservatives" of Cruz's ilk, "conservative" refers to the use of government. "Conservative," as in, "with restraint." That's the only kind of "conservative" I'm interested in.
I'm sorry, but Huckabee was pro government all the way, and never was and will never be a "reasonable" choice to vote for.
Deace supported Huckabee as a matter of evangelical solidarity. There are indeed several better overall choices now.
LOL! Sad it's funny.
An aside ... just this morning I found out that as of now, there are seven officially declared Democrats for the 2016 nomination, and 15 officially declared Republicans. It's an embarrassment of riches, supposedly, something to be celebrated. Fifteen so far, and that's not counting undeclared Jeb, Christie, Walker, or Graham.
I already know who my candidate is. Cruz to victory. The rest can all go home. They ought to just keep it 'til next time, as far as I'm concerned.
You forgot the sarcasm tag.
I never was a converted Huckabee person. I always thought he set up the program on FOX .. just to get national name recognition.
However, I don’t know Steve Deace .. so I have no idea whether his switching to Cruz is a good thing or not. Unless he has the integrity of Rush Limbaugh .. I’ll wait and see.
I’m still in the Cruz camp, and I’m putting my money where my mouth is.
Deace’ sole interest in Huckabee 2008 was that Huckabee claims to be a born-again evangelical Christian who could be trusted to ‘do the right thing’. There was only one candidate like that in 2008 whereas we now have several who have better records.
Deace has a mild nervous affliction, something like mild Tourette’s, so he can sometimes seem ‘out there’ in person. Deace is also older and wiser now, like a lot of former Huckabee supporters.
I noticed that Huckabee has already staked out Cruz as one of his targets .. I’ve seen several comments that lead me to believe your comment may be correct .. that Huckabee is possibly in this race just to be a spoiler to Cruz.
I’ve noticed that Huckabee has already condemned anyone who is not a “former Governor” (which is Cruz), as being a person who is unqualified to be President.
However, I don’t think Huckabee has any idea that trying to take down Cruz will be much, much harder than he thought.
Thanks for that well written statement about the difference between Cruz’s “conservative” v. Huckabee’s “conservative”.
Very well stated .. and if I might suggest .. you should probably continue to state that so people can discover the difference.
I am definitely in Cruz’s camp.
Huckabee also endorsed David Dewhurst over Cruz in the Senate race Cruz won.
I’m not surprised.
I still say Huckabee went on FOX in order to get name recognition .. now his only goal seems to be to smear Ted Cruz .. and I think he’s bit off more than he can chew.
:^)
