In my opinion, the Congressional district getting the electoral vote is a good idea. Maine does it, and so does Nebraska.
Much better than the “popular vote” scheme pushed by liberals. They want the popular vote of the state to be IGNORED and force the electors of the state to vote for whichever candidate gets the NATIONAL popular vote.
So, for instance, if the state of California votes for Hillary Clinton 90%, but the nation as a whole votes for Ted Cruz, even if it is only by 100 votes, then Cruz gets ALL OF CALIFORNIA’s ELECTORAL VOTES.
An incredibly STUPID plan....though it would be nice to see Cruz win California. :-)
If California were to be split into 2 or more states, and if NYC were made a separate state (with the rest of Long Island and Westchester Co.) some of the current California and New York block of electoral votes might become competitive.
