During a Q&A with CSPAN, Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY) discussed comments he has made many time in in the past claiming the Tea Party is motivated by racism because they are the old Dixiecrats from mainly Southern states

Rangel said he was told not to talk about race anymore saying, "So people said please don't bring up that race thing anymore."(continued)

I've been reading Kolyma Tales by Varlam Shalamov and yesterday I went to see the third and final Atlas Shrugged film so I have this stuff on the brain. Ayn Rand's vision was flawed in some ways I think, but she knew the American left dead to rights. The modern political class in our country is full of people just like Floyd Ferris and Cuffy Meigs. I routinely observe the attitudes and behaviors of The Cultural Revolutions Red Guard or the Soviet KOMSOMOL in our own countrymen, and our leftist political establishment willing to import its own constituency if the homegrown Red Guard types are not sufficient. All this while the rest of us watch, seemingly paralyzed. I wish to hell the American people knew history better.
