Politics is ugly. Always has been, always will be. Won't ever change. Rand's an outsider trying to win the support of key insiders he will need for his presidential run. He's gathering favors and good will from the "establishment". Everything Rand Paul is doing is with his run for the White House in mind, my guess is he doesn't much care for Alexander, McConnell, Cochran or most of the rest of them.

In my view, Rand Paul is running for the Vice-Presidency. Virtually all of his "huh" positions are ones that appeal to the youth vote -- drugs, gay rights, broadening the franchise, etc.

He's setting himself up as the only ticket option who can conceivably attract the youth vote.

I totally agree with your assessment. The thing that troubles me is that Rand just seems to want it too badly. I think he needs to stay in the senate and do good work there.

So, if, as is increasingly obvious, Rand Paul is a political whore with views oh soooooo similar to his loony daddy, why are any of us wasting time on him? He plays for the other team on foreign policy just like his daddy. The babies cannot trust him just like they could not trust his daddy. People who have had enough of the sheer volume of immigration cannot rely on him. He sold his soul to Mitchie McConnell and the Wall Street/K Street gangs. Find a candidate to primary the sorry SOB in 2016 out of the Senate seat he holds and say goodbye to all things Paul.
