A founding father of the conservative movement who is now a star among Tea Party activists is urging the GOP to choose a governor to duel Washington “insider” Hillary Clinton for the White House, saying that 2016 isn't the best time for Sen. Ted Cruz to run.
Often called the “funding father” of conservatism for pioneering direct mail fundraising, Richard A. Viguerie believes that the Texas senator is a “game changer” for the movement but that the best way to beat Clinton is with a candidate from outside the beltway.
“I don't think it would be best for the conservative movement for Cruz to run this time,” said the Viguerie, a legendary conservative marketer who has just published a new book, Takeover: The 100-year war for the soul of the GOP and how conservatives can finally win it.
“Assuming the Democrat ‘product' is going to be Hillary Clinton this time, a Washington insider, you don't want to run another Washington type against her,” said Viguerie, 80, one of former President Ronald Reagan's original kitchen cabinet members.
His pick: Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, a former House member who is winning kudos for his conservative approach to state politics, teamed with anti-establishment Sen. Rand Paul as the vice presidential nominee....

Rand Paul will never make it to the White House. The MSM will constantly hang his father around his neck.
That being said, I do like Ted Cruz's total brass in facing down the enemy. He needs to get elected Governor of Texas for a term and then run for POTUS. If he can keep his integrity, courage and values through all that he would be a dynamite candidate and a great President.

If he’s the last man standing after the Republican primary dust settles I would run to be first in line to vote for him. If it comes down to choosing between him and a Gov. Scott Walker I’m gonna vote for the Gov every time and tell Ted to go and get that title added to his resume. Nothing prepares you for the responsibility of the Oval Office like time spent in the Governor’s mansion.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Senator, when Obamacare was at issue, a month ago, when it came to a continuing resolution to funding the government you supported a filibuster of other Senators, who demanded that you had to have a change or the abolition of Obamacare as a condition for funding the government. In retrospect do you think that was a good strategy? But even more importantly —looking ahead, the deadlines are coming up, the resolution’s going to run out, we’re going to hit the debt ceiling soon — would you be prepared to use same tactic as we approach the new deadlines? SEN. RAND PAUL (R-KY): Well, I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it’s a conundrum. Here’s the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can’t give the president a blank check. We just can’t keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can’t vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don’t we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.
