I think that the laSLIMES has a different definition of vulgar than most of the US.

They seem to think it means “not a member of the self appointed elite”.

Hard to say.

That would probably qualify as "vulgar" for a lot of older Americans. Just because you like her doesn't mean your mom or dad or English teacher would have approved.

And la Times is correct.

Vulgar (from the Latin vulgus: the common people) means In ordinary use. Vernacular speech. A person not regarded as belonging to good society.
