Vice President Joe Biden joined Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) at a forum hosted by the McCain Institute in Arizona Friday, where the pair discussed the recently defeated gun-control measure.
Biden told the crowd that last years massacre at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., has changed American attitudes about guns, even though the Senate rejected legislation to expand background checks on gun purchases.
Newtown was, to sort of use that old cliche, the straw that that broke the camels back, Biden said, according to the Arizona Republic. There was a fundamental change, in my opinion, in public attitudes about guns. It wasnt marginal it was real.
Biden joined the Arizona senator for the McCain Institutes Sedona Forum, the second annual gathering the think tank has hosted in Sedona, Ariz., since its creation last year.
McCain and Biden are friends from the Senate, and Biden's lobbying has been partially credited with convincing McCain to cross party lines and back the Senates bill.
Speaking alongside McCain, Biden said that the public is looking for some way to respond to last years mass shooting....

They should totally get gay married and buy a condo together! McCain could make chex party mix and they could invite Boehnor and Obama over for 4 handed canasta!
If Biden and McCain had any interest in the truth, they would look at the number of background checks per month (pushing 3 million) and the levels of firearms and ammo sales. The "fundamental change" is that, while we still value the Second Amendment, we no longer trust the ruling class elite to respect the rule of law. We're getting a lifetime supply of guns and ammo, and few armed Americans would pay 2-10 times the previous rates for ARs and for ammo if they were willing to then give them away in a forced buyback or official confiscation. I really don't want another civil war. Unfortunately, McCain is siding with Biden, Obama, Schummer, Pelosi, Reid, and others who are willing to force that option on us.
Yes it did. More people than ever bought guns. More schools have decided to arm themselves. And more people learned that the law you wanted to pass would have done nothing to prevent Newton ever happening again showing once again how inept lawmakers are!
Yes~!
To put this into simple reasoning.....two hundred-ninety-nine million-nine-hundred-and ninety-seven thousand Americans (and illegals) are obeying not only federal, state and local law, but also any words handed down by the Almighty. That’s an enormous number of people who control themselves, their weapons, and don’t need anymore laws written.
So we basically need a law which covers roughly three thousand Americans (and illegals). You’d think after a while....that roughly seven-hundred folks die from swimming, boating, or water-related deaths each year, and we’d want to fix this problem too. But it’s not a priority.
You’d think after a while....that roughly seven-hundred folks die from blunt object situations (hammers, bats, 2x4 lumber) each year. We ought to have some reasoning to fight this statistic, but it’s not a priority.
So we’ve become a ‘Hollywood-nation’, which jumps off at the theater, gets hyper over some great theater show, and two weeks later figure out that half of the show was drama-acting and not much to get the nation into a uproar.
With all this supposed change taking place in the hearts and minds of the American people, there is absolutely no change whatsoever in the two people chairing the little gettogether.
There was a fundamental change, in my opinion,

The only problem here is that Biden’s opinion is just like Biden. Not worth a damn.
He and Juan , and Obama, the 3 Stooges.
Not one of the three could bell a buzzard.
It is hard to conjecture if America would have been much better off had McCain won the presidency. In the main, I would have to conclude, only marginally so. I say this because no matter how inconstant McCain would have been in office, his appointees would likely have been somewhat less hostile to our principles. I know that is scant approval, but it is the best that I can offer.
And his vice president, especially if health issues arose.
Americans have changed their addititude on guns, witness the buying spree. We are not all buying guns because we want them to take them. These guys are just liars, thieves and have evil intentions.
...to continue with your logic and reason, you would think that at least one million babies in the womb, would enjoy some smidgen of protection from the out of control oath taking/oath breaking physicians who, with the greatest of precision, and care, carry on their gruesome business of snuffing those one million babies per year with the full faith and credit of the US Government behind them.
Why just two days ago the President himself asked the Great God above who said “thou shalt not kill”, to bless the providers of what is shamefully called women’s health, that world renowned agency called Planned Parenthood. In closing, someone must think the Great God above, is not keeping notes or can’t count past the fingers of both hands.
Believers might be inclined to whisper, God help us, have mercy on us all.
Yes, Sarah Palin would have been much better than Biden. However, she would have been just one voice in a cabinet full of raging rinos.
The Vice President is not a cabinet member. He/she is the only other nationally elected official, the president of the Senate and, of course, first in line of succession. Many presidents also make the VP the head of the National Security Council and give them other high-level duties.
All of what you say is true. However, we will never know what sort of responsibilities or level of trust McCain would have given to Sarah Palin. All we have to go by is McCain’s erratic behavior since losing the election.
Biden told the crowd that last years massacre at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., has changed American attitudes about guns
No it has not.
You either believe in and agree with the Constitution or you do not.
You either believe only the Government and criminals should have guns or you believe that decent law abiding citizens should have guns also.
You either believe an inanimate object (a gun) walked into a school and killed children or you understand that an evil human being walked into a school and killed children.
> Why even have two parties?
The RHINOs have really been working overtime backstabbing conservatives this last year and for what? Votes and retaining their power. Next election when they find out they lost their ‘coveted’ positions I hope they realize why they didn’t get the votes from the liberals they expected. Because people don’t like chicken$hit spineless coward scums that turn traitor against their own whether they’re liberal or conservative. Bye McCain, you just confirmed what we always suspected about you. And you wonder why you didn’t have a chance in 2008. You’re no longer relevant.
