Sen. John McCain said Sunday that he opposes the thought of filibustering a debate over gun legislation that will probably be brought to the Senate floor this week, despite threats of such action by fellow Republican senators.
I don't understand it. The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand, Arizona's McCain said on CBS Face the Nation.
A trio of first-term GOP senatorsRand Paul of Kentucky, Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texasstated in a letter last month that they will block any gun control legislation that they consider a threat to Second Amendment rights.
Several other Republican senators joined in, and in an expanded letter to be sent Monday to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, they wrote that they would oppose a bill that "would infringe on the American people's constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance."(continued)

Naaaaaah.
“Manchurian candidate” don’cha see?
You are 100% correct. Additionally, I seem to no longer get the arrows sent my way when I continue to repeat that Benedict Arnold was once a war hero as well. Key word, perspective. I would have loved to used that on Allen Colmes when all he could do was parrot “perspective” when his leftist heroes routinely lose their pants, literally.
Is it just me or do others here just get that kind of icky feeling about being associated with the GOP Club? Maybe it is time for some change. How about simply republican Club. (little “r” intentionally used)
"The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand"
No traitor, Your purpose is to REPRESENT the people not let them know where YOU stand.
McCain long ago used up any possible good will for his military service. Too bad he was just captured rather than killed outright.
Juan wants to roll over and play dead.
At one time he had a leadership role.Today the young turks are taking over and Juan doesn’t understand that republicans are tired of his sorry leadership.
What Juan needs to do is join them, he is irrelevent otherwise and too stupid to figure it out.
I wish some ultra rich group or lotto winner would just give him a hundred million buckaroos and tell him to go buy a south Pacific island and stay away for a few years at the minimum from the USA.
He has done more wrong than good for this country than any other historical event I can think of.
All of obamas destruction I can blame on mclame, if he had any honor he should do what is right to correct his cascading mistakes, but I doubt it, he and Pelosi make a flock of same feathered birds.
Standard GOPe thinking.
There’s a lotof things McCain doesn’t understand anymore.
He’s “Has-Been” and needs to be set out to pasture the rest of his days.
It's not just you. I no longer tell people I'm a Republican. I find that embarrassing. Instead, I tell them I'm a conservative.
I recently got a letter from the RNC requesting a donation. I hand wrote on the donation card "When the RNC starts supporting conservative candidates I will consider donating to the RNC. Until such time, I will donate directly to conservative candidates or to organizations that support conservative candidates." I then stuffed it into the postage prepaid envelope and shipped it off. Maybe if a million of us gave them that message they would get the point.
There’s a lot that McCain doesn’t understand. You could fill libraries with what McCain doesn’t understand.
He has a large growth on his left jaw/cheek, what is that?
A tumor? Parasite? Retirement?
He had some sort of surgery to remove what I think was a tumor around 2008.
The control freak mayor of NYC, Michael Bloomberg, is a Republican.
Whatever he is, I am not.
I've been a registered Independent since the GOPe ran Dole against Clinton because it was "his turn". That told me all I needed to know about the party.
The GOPe really didn't like Reagan, but I did.
Once Reagan was gone, they went back to being who they always were.
His wife owns a beer company. He’s already filthy rich!
