I left the Democrat party when it moved too far to the left. It seems the Republican have also been moving to the left and so it is time I leave the Republican party.

For years I was against the idea of a third party because it would only weaken the Republicans, split the vote and result in a loss. Not anymore. The elite leadership has made it clear it no longer shares the values of their more conservative members. They want our money, our support and our vote, but not our values.

I am not going to say there is no difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. The Democrats want to change our nation into a socialist utopia quickly, while the Republican elites want to change our nation into a socialist utopia slowly. So there is a difference.

I live in California, I am a conservative and I doubt if my one vote changed anything in the 45 years I have been voting.

So going third party is not going to matter in the short term. In the long term perhaps it will. I just no longer know.

I will be changing my party affiliation soon.

On to the question, is a third party viable? Yes. Political parties have gone out of style and have died off only to be replaced by something else.

I think one of the primary purpose of a political party is to allow like minded people to band together and use their combined influence to provide opposition to those with different views and to their agenda passed.

Currently the Democrat and the Republican party only seem to differ in the speed of our destruction.

The Republican party is no longer and obstruction to the Democrats. For all practical purposes they no longer exist anyway.

A conservative third party would at least give us a voice that we do not have now. I still believe we are the majority in this nation, we just do not have a focal point to make that truth clear. A conservative third party may just do that. Besides, what do we have to lose that we are not losing anyway?

“I just no longer know.” - Applies to a lot of us is my guess. - My current conclusion, for what it’s worth, is that the governments of man are overall CORRUPT. . and, yes, I do believe the Almighty has a solution for that, one that is closer than we think. . at hand . . ‘til then we just have to trudge along as best we can.

I agree with everything you wrote.

My opinion is, a campaign takes longer than one thinks. Palin should mention she’s thinking about it, which will allow her to start getting things together.

And that will likewise, get those of us on the sidelines, enthused.

How about it Sarah? You had four years now with your family. That is wonderful and (everyone) understands your reasons for standing down last time.

But seriously.

Now is the time.
