I know that some freepers are reluctant to vote for Romney because he's not conservative enough. Few of us wanted him to be the Republican nominee, and for good reason. This is why I'm voting Libertarian this year. I know the mantra, a vote for Gary Johnson is a vote for Obama, but that's not true in deep blue states like mine (New York). I propose that conservatives in deep blue states agree to vote 3rd party. In return, conservatives in toss up states can hold their noses while voting for Romney.
This is a very good point. Even if you live in a "lost state" (deep blue), your vote still counts in the national PV total. We all know this doesn't decide the Presidency, but it has symbolic value in that if our candidate can get over 50% of the PV, the media can't hang that "plurality President" tag on him. Remember that the 'Rats are always great ones for claiming a "mandate" even if they win an election by one vote. Let's work to get our candidate as many votes as we can to counter that kind of crap. We can claim a legitimate mandate if we crack the 50% barrier by a significant amount.
Or look it at from the standpoint that we should vote out all incumbents.
I actually laugh at liberals who talk about what a "vicious right-winger" Romney is, and then point out to them that he'd be a mainstream Democrat as little as 20 years ago.
What are you thinking? You and a few like you will WASTE your votes on this third party candidate, why, to prove a point that you WILL not vote for R? To be able to say, I voted for such and such, it’s not my fault?
NO ONE on FR wanted Romney for the repub candidate, NO ONE! He is WAY too similar to bronco on a lot of issues.
He has several major differences though;
1. He doesn’t appear to want to destroy America.
2. He seems much less anti-Christian.
3. He doesn’t appear to want to destroy America.
I could go on but I hope you get the picture. DO NOT WASTE YOUR VOTE! Your candidate just DOESN’T have the votes,(or else we would be here bitchin about your candidate instead of R.), we CAN NOT afford to lose this election. wait until next election to prove your point.
Early this year I Would have voted for the Libertarian or Constitution party candidate cause romney was no where near conservative enough.
As the year went by Considered voting for Romney while wearing a Clothespin on my nose...
Then Benghazi happened and I ENTHUSIASTICALLY pulled the lever for Mitt!
Do it for our Marines and other service memebers who will be ABANDONED should the “won” Obama get another four years!
“Hiding behind some ostentatious self-righteous rationalization or other”
I agree that often they were full of it. But I don’t begrudge them as the draft is as clear a violation of the Constitution as ever there was. I can’t understand people who feel it their patriotic duty, for instance, to refuse to answer body census questionnaires but are perfectly fine being packed off and sent overseas to shoot at foreigners who pose absolutely no threat to national security (properly construed).
That’s pretending the defense of the Republic is sufficient grounds for slavery. I don’t think it is. They say the Constitution is not a suicide pact, but since there’s ni anti-suicide clause yes, it is. Nevermind, though, no condition such as the fate of free government can have reasonably been in doubt existed since the War of 1812. So the “distasteful/dangerous task of ensuring the freedom that you so cavalierly abuse” has nothing to do with serving in the military in the draft era, except as deterrence. But you can rely on volunteers for that.
I live in Connecticut and used to think like you.
But Connecticut is in play this year. So I’m voting Romney.
In New York, does Obama still win if everyone south of White Plains doesn’t vote? Because a week without power will change a LOT of attitudes.
Yes. And voting for either of the two leading candidates is a vote for the status quo.
My prediction: Romney will win, and except for the rhetoric nothing much will change.
We’re trying to get rid of the pothead in the WH. Why would we want another?
Then you are helping Obama get re-elected. Period. There is just no way around it.
Every voter that does not cast a ballot for the only candidate, Mitt Romney, that can actually prevent Hussein from winning another term is effectively giving an assist to Barrack Obama.
Additionally, even though Obama is highly likely to win in New York, doing everything possible to deny Hussein a popular vote victory is very important. Each fewer vote Obama gets makes it more difficult for him to claim a majority of the country is supporting/endorsing his policies.
I hate Liberaltarians.
Johnson and you are both helping Obama.
So basically you’re voting for Obama, which means you condone his job performance these past four years, and look forward to another four years of his reign.
Many analysts project the LDS to end up converting over to orthodox Christianity in due course on account of the core group being swamped by outsiders. This happened to The Worldwide Church of God ~ picked up too many converts through aggressive proselytization, and then when the founder passed on things began to change ~ now it's a mishmash of breakaway sects of greater or lesser fidelity.
Absent some other reason, schism is rarely permanent ~
I accept many libertarian policies, but I have watched Gary Johnson and have listened to his beliefs.
I find him to be much too doctrinaire. Just like any “knee-jerk” politician, he is “knee-jerk” libertarian. Especially on social issues like abortion and gay marriage - he is simply “anything goes.” Many of his positions show little thought - they seem to simply want to follow the media and the fashion.
bird,
in the conservative CT-5 open seat, it is NARAL pro-gay GOP Roraback vs. leftist DEM Esty.
the strategy is to get Esty elected and come back with a center-right candidate in ‘14. Cuz Esty is too liberal for that seat to hold it.
Do we vote Esty or do we vote for write-in constitutionalist John Pistone? Tell us the strategy pleeze.
Sorry, couldn't resist. You really want four more years of this???? Really????
Yep. And I also know what Catholics believe about Mormons and what both centralized hierarchical works emphasizing churches believe about Evangelicals. And what Evangelicals believe about centralized hierarchical works emphasizing churches. And even what fundamentalist Baptists believe about mainline Southern Baptists.
And just about all faithful adherents of any of the foregoing have the sense to put it aside because they believe doctrinal differences need to take a back seat to defeating a Satanic big government loving terrorist coddling Muslim apologist cult which would put an end to religious freedom in America as we know it.
Do you?
This year ~ in some places.
My sister-in-law non-demoninational evangelical. Said four years ago there would be no way she could vote for a Mormon. She is the pastor of the church. Four years later, she voted (early in Texas) for Romney and her congregation is following suit. They aren’t sitting out. The assault on religion has evangelicals FIRED UP!
