I live in the FT Bend area.

Now if Dewhurst isn't getting out his message, whose fault is that?

I haven't seen a single Dewhurst commercial or received anything in the mail that listed his conservative accomplishments.

I have received mailers and seen and heard radio and TV messaages that inform of Lt. Gov. Dewhurst’s conservative accomplishments. I can’t say why you have not. The fact that Lt. Gov. Dewhurst led Cruz in the primary shows more conservatives get the message than you seem to think.

Perhaps someone else in your household threw away Dewhurst’s mailers before you got a chance to look them over. Perhaps you weren’t watching TV or listening to the radio when Dewhurst’s informative commercials about his conservative credentials came on. Perhaps you tuned them out because positive commencials are boring compared to attack ads. Obviously you’ve paid attention to the Cruz attack ads, which are the reason all these tea-party people have this misperception about Dewhurst’s conservative record. And when Dewhurst, in self-defense, informs people of who the real Cruz is and what he does, - you do remember that!

What I think motivates Cruz supporters is the misperception that Dewhust alone should have gotten EVERYTHING passed that they wanted when in 2010 we took the majority in the legislature, including all anti-immigration and anti-abortion bills they wanted, but they forgot completely that in the Texas Senate the minority party still has the ability to stop any legislation dead in its tracks, and they cannot be ignored if we conservative were to get anything accomplished at all. And we really did accomplish a lot. But by then, we had Cruz making false accusation that Dewhurst was in favor of a state income tax, calling him Dewcrist, that he was GOP-e and all the other negative campaign nonsense I refuted in my earlier posts to you, and I do give credit to Cruz for running a clever campaign that has drawn in this new tea-party movement.

One other thing, about this career politician business - historically, with the advantages of incumbency offered by campaign laws and the Senate Committee to Reelect Incumbent Republicans, if Cruz is elected, Texas would probably be stuck with another Kay Bailey Hutchison in perpetuity. With Lt. Gov. Dewhurst, we would most certainly not.
