At least nobody has called Pastor Osteen a communist. Pleasantly surprised, me.

I'm sorry Saundra, but I must add to the chorus here who believe that Osteen is a fraud.

I've seen many "name it and claim it" prosperity preachers come and go over the years and all they leave in their wake is poverty and disillusionment. I have had friends whose faith was nearly destroyed by this heresy when the "heavenly vending machine" failed to give them what they thought they deserved. Prosperity teaching is a clear abomination as it turns God's true teaching on its head.

Think about it for a second: If God truly wanted everyone to be wealthy in this life, then why weren't his apostles all wealthy men? Why didn't He come, as many were mistakenly expecting, as a triumphant king bestowing Earthly riches on everyone?

It is crystal clear from reading the Bible that God's primary desire is not for us to be materially wealthy but rather for us to be HUMBLE. Unless we die to ourselves and our own selfish nature we cannot live in Him. Never forget that He desires what is BEST for us, which is often quite different from what we DESIRE for ourselves.

We should also remember that we live in a fallen world. It's like we are passengers on the Titanic (or the Costa Concordia), and while God is calling us to cast off everything that is not essential and to rescue as many others as we can, Joel Osteen is instead telling everyone to go back inside and claim the finest cabin, eat the best food, drink the finest wine, and enjoy the ride to the bottom because surely God wants us to be comfortable and to have the "best." Can you not see the deception in this?
