I got “Chariots of Fire”, “Olympic Fanfare” (J. WIlliams) and the opening phrase of “The Star Spangled Banner”.
The support for Ron Paul has clearly got to be a “none of the above” protest. When those folks realize there has to be “one of the above”, hopefully they’ll realize that Perry is the best choice. Newt’s dropping back in the pack and won’t regain his footing, IMO. None of the others except Perry has the resources to stay in it to the bitter end.
Compare Perry’s experience and accomplishments against any of the other candidates and he has the clear edge.
Perry’s not a great debater, but neither was Bush. The expectations will be low for him and he will exceed them. He is a good campaigner. IMO, he is the only one who has the resources and the stature to beat Romney over the long haul.
That is one heck of an ad. His record on fiscal responsibility and job creation is what he should be speaking to every time he steps to a microphone. The economic health of the State of Texas proves his method works.
Perry/Gingrich 2012
Perry/Gingrich 2012
breaking news??????????????????????????????????????????????
I’ve voted six times for this Rick, but in 2012, I am for the other Rick. Rick Santorum 2012! Less baggage!
Yes, both Ricks have baggage. Perry’s only baggage that had any substance at all was Gardasil and long-term residing children of undocumented workers in TX who graduated from TX schools being allowed to pay instate tuition for college.
We tend to forget all of Santorum’s garbage because of his strong social values, likeability, and more importantly, he has had a couple years to buffer himself from his history in Congress and from the old boys group he associated with when he was there. But WE NEED TO REMEMBER Santorum received more campaign funds from lobbyists in 2006 than any other member on The Hill at that time, even more than John Murtha and Tom Delay ever did, met regularly with K Street lobbyists every Tuesday morning as a Senator, loves earmarks for special interests and still defends them today, and believes it is fine to keep collecting federal tax dollars to give to Congress to determine what lobbyist-driven projects the Congress would like to provide funds for back in the states.
Having home schooled all my children to the time they all entered college, and having had to live a sacrificial life as a family for us to have done so, I am ALSO very put off by the Santorums taking over $100,000 of state entitlements from Pennsylvania just to home school their children with a public-school-provided virtual school (not actually even permitted since they lived in Virginia and should have lost the almost $7,500 per child / per year entitlement they were being paid by Pennsylvania just to home school their children using a charter-school internet education provided by Pennsylvania for Pennsylvania residents). That is not even mentioning he had to lie about his residence to get it and then was sued by Pennsylvania when they found out (and had to pay some of that back, not all, but some as they settled).
So Rick Santorum pushes old fashioned earmarks and lobbyist connections and he doesn’t mind state entitlements either. That is not fiscal conservatism, and THAT is where the two Ricks take separate paths for sure.
For me, while I really respect Rick Santorum’s social conservatism, and that is very important to me, I think our country needs a fiscal conservative who can get our country back on track before we completely fall apart economically. A big government politician like Rick Santorum just couldn’t do that.
I realize not everyone here may be a fiscal conservative like I am, so maybe that isn’t important to you, but please at least consider what an economic mess Obama has made for us. Both Ricks are strong men of faith, but one, Rick Santorum, is a big government Republican and only ONE is a fiscal conservative , and that is Governor Rick Perry.
I probably should have included a link to the settlement the Santorums made with Pennslyvania when PA sued them for taking the Pennsylvania entitlements for home schooling their children using a Pennsylvania-virtual-charter school while the Santorums were actually living in Virginia.

Great points.
Votes for Paul are either (a) mischief votes to siphon support away from a legitimate candidate, or (b) protest votes. When Paul flames out, where will his votes go?
Compare Perrys experience and accomplishments against any of the other candidates and he has the clear edge.
In a field of fluff and noise, Perry has substance. I want that message to break through all of the fluff and noise. Americans, deep down inside, want someone to vote FOR.
Love this ad
Last night I was looking at some of the internals of the polls.
The one thing that jumped out at me was that Perry is not resonating as a CONSERVATIVE, with Conservative voters
?
Great job on the research! It is much appreciated.
I'd like to know what clown put it in breaking news, when I posted it, I put it in extended news. That's where it belongs, IMO.
Santorum will be long gone before you get to vote.
Perry is one tough, knows how to
git ‘er done, gun totin’ man!
PERRY’s FAITH TALK APPEALS TO IOWA VOTERS
WATERLOO, Iowa Gov. Rick Perry won Lyn Conrad’s vote 4½ months ago, before he even announced that he was running for president.
The Crawfordsville, Iowa, resident watched a live webcast of the Response, the August prayer rally in Houston that starred Perry, a week before he launched his presidential campaign. Though every Republican candidate has talked about faith at one point or another in the presidential campaign, only Perry was at the center of such a large and public religious display.
“I like that he talks about faith,” Conrad said. “We need someone who will turn to the ultimate authority, even though I know you won’t print that.”
She’s not alone. Perry supporters routinely say they are drawn to the fact that he says he’s not ashamed to talk about his Christian faith. In fact, it might be the leading factor that is keeping Perry in the conversation about who should be the Republican presidential nominee.
An NBC/Marist College poll released Friday shows former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul running first and second, respectively, in Iowa, with Perry, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum and former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich locked in a tight battle for third place.
Asked which characteristics of a candidate matter most, 30 percent of respondents in NBC’s Iowa poll said they want a nominee who shares their values, while 28 percent chose the ability to beat President Barack Obama. Twenty-three percent said they wanted someone who was close to them on the issues, and 16 percent said it was most important that the candidate have the experience to govern.
Also in the NBC poll, 46 percent of likely caucus participants said they consider themselves fundamentalist or evangelical Christians.
“I just think Perry is more conservative, more Christian, which is a big concern of mine,” Josh Rzepka, who owns a pest-control company, said before a Perry campaign stop in Waterloo today.
Rzepka said he posted to his Facebook page a television commercial in which Perry says he is not ashamed of his faith.
“So many people shy away from what their religion is, and he’s not going to,” Rzepka said.
Perry began the campaign with a focus squarely on the country’s unemployment problem and the rather rapid rate of job creation in Texas during his tenure. But in his advertising and stump speech, he increasingly talks about religion and social issues. He bragged in speeches this week that he has opposed same-sex marriage as governor and signed a budget that cut funding for Planned Parenthood clinics. And he has talked about religion in numerous ads, including one in which he said, “There’s something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military but our kids can’t openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school.”
Also, this week he changed his position on abortion. Perry now says he believes abortion should be illegal even if the mother is the victim of rape or incest. He believes the procedure should only be allowed if the mother’s life is at risk.
“Somebody’s values are going to get legislated,” Perry said Friday night in Mason City. “And the question is going to be, whose values will it be?”
That’s a great ad, and I’ll be in Heaven if I can listen to Pres. Perry’s voice for the next eight years instead of the mindless drone we have to listen to now.
