As I rode my horse, Little Man, around Rancho del Cielo during the spring of 1975, I thought a lot about the lost vision of our founding fathers and the importance of recapturing it and the voices from around the country who were pressing me to run for president. And I remembered something Id said many years before: A candidate doesnt make the decision whether to run for president; the people make it for him.

Pass that thing over to me so I can sign it.
Sarah Palin put herself out there and did everything but formally announce.
And not one iota of evidence showed the public is interested in having her as President. In only one poll was she within single digits of Obama in a head-to-head. Majorities said, in no uncertain terms, they didn’t want her to run.
The America Sarah Palin loves told her it doesn’t love her back.
And so she stepped back and walked away.
So let her go. This isn’t going to happen.
Zero loses next year, Sarah challenges Begich for his Alaska Senate seat in 2014, and wins in a landslide. That sets her up for a POTUS run in 2020 after 8 years of a GOP presidency.
If that scenario plays out, we may just stand a good chance of saving this country.
If only ...
That said, I do not support a "Draft Palin for President" movement. She clearly stated that she would not be running for president this election cycle and we must respect her decision and let her be.
I say this as a big admirer of Sarah Palin. Had she decided to run, I would have supported her enthusiastically. Drafting her, making her feel guilty about her decision or trying to shame her into running is counterproductive in my opinion. In order to be an effective president, you need to have the "fire in the belly." Well at least for this election cycle, Palin does not have that fire in the belly, otherwise she would be running. The job of U.S. president is too important to be dragging somebody into it unwillingly.
Sarah Palin is still a young woman. She will still be a viable presidential candidate for at least the next 20 years should she decide to run in a future election cycle.
So it's time to put thoughts of Palin for president aside for now and move on to another candidate.
Windflier my friend, I am disappointed and discouraged that she is not running. None of the current candidates inspire any confidence or optimism. Not one. That said, she has announced her decision. I support her, and however much it pains me I accept her decision. She is far better placed to assess the situation for her than we are.
Not for nothing but what ever happened to her lawsuit threats over the McGinnis book? Timing is coincidental and I was raised to question coincidene.

As much as I wish she would have run since she’s taken herself out of the race she’s nothing more than a political pundit to me now.
Albeit one that I agree with pretty much all the time but then again I don’t need someone to tell me what to think.
She had a chance to truly make a difference and she chose not to, time to move on.
Sorry for not replying to any of the posts on the thread, but I had to run out to service a customer right after I posted.
I must say that I’m surprised at the response this post got. I really didn’t expect more than maybe a dozen hits, and only put it up for those Palinistas who might feel compelled to respectfully ask the Governor to change her mind about running.
For what it’s worth, I’m living in the real world, and am ready to give my support to Herman Cain for the nomination.
That doesn’t mean I’m not keeping my options open, in case something goes cataclysmically wrong, like Romney surging ahead in the voting, or Herman Cain doing a swan dive, ala Perry.
Palin wouldn’t be the first person to ever need persuading to enter a presidential race. Dwight Eisenhower repeatedly said no to appeals from supporters. He finally answered the call when he was drafted at the nominating convention.
I don’t know if she can be persuaded, but she left the door open a few weeks ago in an interview on the Mark & Bob show, when she said “it would take an earthquake” for her to change her mind. Some folks heard that, and decided to produce that earthquake.
There’s a good chance that nothing will come of this effort, but at least it gives me the opportunity to let her know how I feel about her decision. I’m under no illusion that she’ll actually answer the call. At least she’ll know that many of us asked her to serve.
Just watched THE UNDEFEATED twice this weekend.
Morgan Keene, the sweet voiced 14 yr old singing in the first part, is so fantastic.
Andrew Breitbart correctly labels the spineless establishment rinos EUNICHS who refuse to defend her. Good God, where are the men?
Did you notice Josh Painter’s name in the closing credits of THE UNDEFEATED?
Way to go, Josh!!! “;^)
