Don't they have a GOP in Alaska that could have helped her?

No. She broke up the good ole boy network and some of them went to jail. :-D

She allowed herself to be run from office, frankly I can't picture Washington, Jackson, Lincoln or Reagan doing so.

Alaska can't be compared to any other state. It's laws are different. And only ONE of the people that you named had been a governor. You can't file lawsuits against the President.

OK, she got the “establishment” pissed off at her. She could not bring enough people into the Alaskan GOP to support her?

There was not enough support around the country to get some financial support?

Seems a little problematic to me.

Sarah Palin also resigned early from her position in the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. This was due to a long running conflict with a fellow Republican whom she believed had acted unethically. By resigning, she made her point, apparently.

Alaska can't be compared to any other state. It's laws are different ...

They are - because of an ethics law which left office holders vulnerable to law suits. This law (which some thought very silly) was promoted by ... Sarah Palin. Like several of pieces of legislation she sponsored, it is now being unwound.

When she resigned, Sarah Palin didn't say she was doing it because of the law suits. She said it was because she was a second term governor and therefore could not stand again. She had harsh words for those who serve out their term: Many just accept that lame-duck status, hit the road, draw the paycheck and milk it. I'm not putting Alaska through that — I promised efficiencies and effectiveness. I love my job, and I love Alaska. It hurts to make this choice, but I am doing what's best for Alaska.
