My parents are 80 year old evangelicals. They love Huck and they are not socialists. They are more conservative than most people on this site. They actually live like conservatives.

They do not see Huck as a socialist.

I am not a Huck fan, but far be it from me to tell them they are wrong. They say they will vote for whoever Huck supports.

What some say, and it's true, is that "the base" isn't enough. What they usually fail to take into account is that the non-base can be persuaded, especially under the circumstances we have now and are likely to still be under and probably worse in late 2012. Also, while the "base" alone can't win a general election for you they can certainly win a nomination.

I think the best comparison as far as polls is concerned are those in 1979 showing Carter winning handily over Reagan. The ones they are taking now mean less than nothing and, in my opinion, are mainly intended to push the Republican herd off the same cliff they jumped from in 2008.

But it's up to Governor Palin to decide whether or not to run and then to show everybody what you and I see.

I’m going to buck the conventional wisdom on this thread and somewhat agree with the author. I have noticed that women, even conservative women, tend to view Palin on average less favorably than men do. I’ve also noticed that women tend not to like an acerbic sense of humor, which I certainly have, as well as men do. They tend to like the pleasant jokester types like Huckabee.
