Whoever ends up being the republican nominee will be ruthlessly trashed in such a manner. Especially someone who has any chance at all to win in 2012.

Trump did it willingly, for charity. But your point is well taken - our candidate will need a thick skin, the ability to be above it all and not feel compelled to complain about it in the media.
