CPAC to Trump: You're hired! ("Ron Paul... has zero chance of getting elected...")
The Politico ^ | Maggie Haberman

(VIDEO AT LINK)

If CPAC is a primary for self-confidence, Donald Trump won hands down.

The real-estate mogul with a genius for self-promotion gave the most-acclaimed — and most colorful — speech at the conservative gathering this afternoon, from the moment he took the stage to the song "Money, Money, Money."

With no visible sense of irony, he slammed libertarian Ron Paul as a losing hopeful who can't capture the brass ring and got booed by some for it, said our current president came 'out of nowhere," and quoted a business magazine's story about what a terrific entrepreneur he himself is.

Yet he was by far the best-received speaker and the audience lapped up his act, as he read some of a prepared speech and used his hands to punctuate his words. He also hit on social issues "briefly," as he said, saying he's pro-life and anti-gun control. He said he'd dismantle Obama's health care law.

The ballroom attendance bulked up massively in advance of his speech, with conference staffers pleading with people to stop blocking the stairwells and doors.

"You're hired!" a fan screamed from the crowd, and he pointed back at her and said, "You're hired! These are my people. This is beautiful."

Supporters of Paul, who are notoriously rabid in defending him and whose son, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, was the next speaker, booed wildly when he said, "by the way, Ron Paul can't get elected, I'm sorry. ... I like Ron Paul, I think he is a good guy but honesty he just has zero chance of getting elected and I can tell you this, if I run and if I win this country will be respected again":(continued)

“Our current president came out of nowhere — in fact I’ll go a step further,” he said. “The people who went to school with him, they never saw him, they don’t know who he is.”

Someone posted a recent interview by him about a week ago. This guy gets it better than just about any candidate out there.

Totalitarian regimes who killed millions of their own people and instituted pogroms against the Jews fighting each other is a win/win in my mind. Yes, many of those soldiers were just common people like you and me, and that saddens me, especially as I'm of German descent.

Yes, I never thought 'the Donald' could be a serious candidate, but have been impressed by his recent comments on Michael Savage's and Laura Ingraham's radio shows. It sounds like he stands with the 'country class.' How sincere is he? We shall see. If he means what he says (and I still need to hear more), I could live with a President Trump, as long as we have a Tea Party Congress to set the agenda. He's also got star power, a quality our nominee will need in spades to beat the Kenyan.

Is Trump serious? Being President would sure complicate his life as a businessman. He would have to divest a lot and his “empire” would suffer. Just don’t see him actually running. I think he just enjoys the limelight.

I would like to see The Donald run for President, for one reason:

I want hear him repeat the slogan over and over again: "Obama, you're fired!"

MmK, he may make a good cabinet position.., but thats it, but I am afraid he would just expand gov. when he should say ‘your fired”....

Can we really expect him to do as much? Really?????

Is Trump serious?

As I said, we shall see. And as I also said, I need to hear more. He needs to promise that he will nominate constitutionalist judges. If we have a conservative Senate (and I think our efforts are best directed towards electing a conservative Congress), a Trump presidency would not be the worst outcome.

Trump still has to go some to convince me, but I think he has shown a a native love of country in his recent media appearances. Make up your own mind, but give a listen to his recent comments. He's no less imperfect than most of the others. I'd love to elect Sarah, but we could do worse than Trump. The main thing is to elect a Tea PArty Congress. That's where the real mojo is these days.
