Me I don’t care.. To me if the person preaches Conservative values regardless of their religious beliefs....
I agree with you, armordog99, that this religion requires an extra heaping helping of “suspension of reasoning skills”. But I wonder if that suspension necessarily carries over into the policy realm.
Not talking about Romney here, who is more of a socialist RINO than he is a Mormon, but thinking of those Mormons who are also good conservatives. Conservatives on the issues. Do you doubt that they are out there?
I know, there might be a difference between a “conservative Mormon” and a “conservative Mormon President”, that anyone who thinks clearly can be a conservative but not anyone can be President, but still, I can’t help wondering, despite the obvious irrationality of the religion, isn’t it possible that a good conservative president could come from its ranks?
Not arguing with you, just wondering out loud.
And one other point. Despite the zany aspects of the religion, it does preach a very strong love of America and a very strong view of American Exceptionalism.
I understand what you're saying, armordog99.
But Romney and his shills know that anti Mormonism is the lone victim card that he has to play.
They can prop that strawman up in front of Socialist RomneyCare and dance to fiddle tunes while they're bashing Sarah Palin.
While Romney has plenty of other things with which we should take issue, if the question is about his mormonism, I have to say I agree with you. I’ve studied it myself and couldn’t trust the judgment of a politician who embraces it.
I agree with you it will be a difficult road in the Bible belt. My FIL is a adament Southern Baptist who has been saying so.
