Jeb Bushformer President George W. Bush's younger brother and member of one of the most esteemed Republican families in the countryannounced his opposition to Arizona's SB 1070 laws over the weekend.
At the National League of Cities convention in Denver, Colorado, he explained that doesn't believe racial profiling is an affective way to determine citizenship and pointed out that his half-Latino children (he is married to a Mexican woman) could be suspects.
"It's the wrong approach," Bush said according to the Denver Post. "The net result is not much has been done."
Bush went on to criticize the call for mass deportation from anti-immigration groups, saying that the cost for such an effort would be prohibitive and that government should focus on plugging the border and integrating the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants already in the United States into American society.
Jeb Bush's point was especially aimed at local Colorado Republicans; the state senate announced plans this year to introduce legislation based on Arizona's immigration bill, even though it has essentially been deemed unconstitutional by local courts. Jeb Bush, a party centrist, is seen by many conservatives as their main ambassador to the Latino community.
Bush concluded his speech by pointing out that his outspoken opposition to the controversial SB 1070 laws should be proof positive that he does not intend on running for president in 2012a rumor his parents had already attempted to dispel, but that his brother and other conservatives have been pushing for.
Jeb Bush was a good Governor and he did his best for Terri Shiavo. He’s basically a decent guy but you are never going to get him on board with securing the border. His whole family is either related to a Mexican family or friends with wealthy high place Mexican elitists.
And even if he were, with this kind of twisted logic for the rule of law, screw him.
I think we have had enough members of the Bush family elected to national office.
No way vendome, that would mean that jebbie been married for 46 years and unless he got married when he was 10 years old, the numbers don't work.
I’m gonna blame the boss on this one(Jim Thompson)
It’s been frustrating trying to post or even read anything for the last 24 hours.
Arghhhhhh!!!!!!!!
You lie!
He’s right about needing to seal the border. As it stands, if you did round them all up and deport them, you’d be having to do it all over again in a couple of years. They’ll all just come right back.
The stupid Bushes have always been for amnesty, open borders and mexicans in general. And anyone who was the head of the CIA should NOT be allowed in politics!! PERIOD!!

Nobody else would have him.
I agree, and wish you a merry Christmas, something students in a NJ school district are not allowed to say. They cannot even sing a Christmas song. All on the orders from Brian Osborne, its fanatical superintendent.
Let’s not forget that his daddy was head of the CIA, and the Kerry Commission laid out the evidence of DRUG SMUGGLING by the CIA and refused to do anything about it. I would also like to remind everyone how his daddy and ATTORNEY GENERAL, William French Smith, argued and received a SPECIAL EXEMPTION TO SMUGGLE DRUGS INTO THE USA (cocaine), during his tenure as VP.
