Politico's Martin and Smith remind the political world not to forget about Mike Huckabee when looking ahead to the 2012 GOP presidential contest.
Dial down the deafening Sarah Palin buzz for just a moment: The most consequential decision in the 2012 Republican presidential sweepstakes could be whether Mike Huckabee decides to run again and associates say the former Arkansas governor may well take the plunge.
If Huckabee gets in, he will unquestionably be a force to be reckoned with in the fight for the nomination. Hed be the undisputed frontrunner in lead-off Iowa, where he won by nine points in 2008. Hed be the candidate to beat in South Carolina, which he narrowly lost to John McCain two years ago in part because of a divided conservative vote. His weekly Fox show, thrice-daily radio program and Grisham-like ability to crank out a book-per-year has given him a direct media presence akin to Palins but without the sky-high negatives.
And should Huckabee stay out, it would create a vacuum on the right among both religious conservatives and tea party activists that would significantly re-order the race and potentially create a larger opening for Palin.
And will Huck run? Some mixed opinions.
My sense is he would like to do it, said longtime GOP consultant Ed Rollins, Huckabees 2008 campaign chairman and still a close adviser.
Hes truly enjoying what hes doing right now, added Chip Saltsman, the governors 2008 campaign manager and another close confidante, noting that Huckabee has never really made any money.(continued)

The Left is really pushing for the loser Huck aren’t they?
If one ‘cranks out’ a book a year and nobody notices, did one really crank anything out?
They are pushing him because Huckabee makes McCain look Conservative. They know a Huckabee nomination means an easy win for Obama. Beware of anyone that the left kisses ass with
While I watch Huckabee on Saturday and Sunday nights on TV, I do not feel that he should run for President again. I hope he won’t give up his TV program on Fox. I feel that he could do a better job of reaching people on TV than being President.
Another name to add to the wait and see list.
Third or fourth PUSH Huckabee article today.
Not too Caption Obvious is it? LOLOLOL.
Wasn’t he the guy directly responsible for the deaths of 4 or 5 Seattle-area policemen? Why is ANYONE taking him seriously?
“The most consequential decision in the 2012 Republican presidential sweepstakes could be whether Mike Huckabee decides to run again”
LOL. Nobody gives a flip what this goober does except for a few consultants and Mittens Romney. It won’t amount to anything. But if he runs, we can have some fun exposing his record. Huck is going to explode like the ripe, rotten fat melon he is.
Man! Don’t anyone be fooled by the fake “conservative” Mike Huckabee!
Bob Ellis has done a good job of compiling Huckabee’s “crimes against conservatism” here: http://www.dakotavoice.com/2010/12/huckabee-has-the-gall-to-talk-2012/
Huckabee needs to take a hike. He is NOT a conservative!
LOL. Can you believe this tripe and full-out PUSH for Huckaboob this week, and it's only Monday?
What gives, I wonder? Talk about a trial balloon that's going to burst. The goober is dying to run, but he had his best showing in '08 Iowa. He has no money and Sarah Palin will suck both the oxygen and money from whatever "grassroots" he's counting on.
Yeah, he'll have some Evangelicas and RINOS, but not TEA Party patriots or conservative Republicans.
He might win Iowa again, according to t-dude, but I don't think so and so what if he does?
Yes, but Huckaboob claims otherwise, (of course).
>>>He might win Iowa again, according to t-dude, but I don’t think so and so what if he does?
The Huck cult has some strength, but may be waning here.
Good. The campaign season hasn't really opened, so I would think that his support is there for the taking. The guy is a boob.
Huck will have the MSNBC vote sewed up!
ROTFLOLOL. You betcha!
