(from the New Yorker)
He declined Palins offer to stump for himhave endeared him to members of the GOPs sane wing. The breakthrough hes scoring in New Jersey is hugely promising, says David Frum, a conservative writer who fears that the Republican Party is being swallowed by the tea party.
Christie is also moderate enough that they know he will not be easily consigned to the Tea Party tea chest when the going gets rough if he decided to run.
He will be an instant loser if he runs for Pres. Having Frum and the New Yorker in your hip pocket is poison to the right. He will lose the South. Lose the South West where immigration is an issue. Lose the bible belt. He doesn’t even show up on the radar for Pres hopefuls.
This hole issue is moot. He should focus on saving NJ instead of screwing around. Results matter. And getting into bed with Mayor Bloomberg for some expensive subway dig isn’t one of them.
The Tea Party is our last hope.
