Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), the conservative kingmaker who backed a number of tea party candidates heading into Tuesday's elections, said that it's "a very silly thing to say" that tea party candidates cost the GOP control of the Senate. Delaware Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell (R) "was so maligned from Republicans that she didn't really have a chance," DeMint added. On health-care overhaul, DeMint said that de-funding the law must come first - something that he said is possible with Republicans controlling the House. "We can slow the implementation of it or delay it and then replace it in 2012 with a real plan," DeMint said. He added that the next Republican running for president "needs to run on complete repeal" of health care reform.
Asked whether there may be a showdown with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) over earmarks, DeMint said that "We're not gonna have earmarks, so it's silly for some senior Republicans in the Senate to try to block it." DeMint also said he won't vote to increase the debt ceiling unless it's combined with some path to balancing the budget and repealing health care reform.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) also appeared on the program. Christie said that it's time to "put up or shut up" for the GOP and that "the public's going to be able to smell real quickly" whether Republicans are credible in their call for reforming government spending. Christie, who endorsed Rep. Mike Castle (R) in the Delaware Senate primary, also said that Delaware "was a missed opportunity" for the GOP. Christie said that he's not running for president in 2012, and joked about the possibility of being selected as the eventual presidential nominee's running mate. "Can you see me as somebody's vice president?" Christie asked....

Exactly.
Okay, then Castle didn't have what it takes to be the nominee?
"Repeal and replace." Even DeMint is repeating the Romney/Brown meme.
Watch out, folks. We're dealing with people who think they can do socialism better than the Democrats.
When Romney or Brown say "repeal and replace," it is absolutely clear that this is the case.
One must wonder what DeMint means when he uses the exact same language.
Take a look at the congressional race in Delaware. The Repub lost that race at about the same percentage she did.
Go Jim, go!!
Oh. . and RINO’s do? At least O’Donnell was conservative where it mattered. The RINO Republican “establishment” attacked her because she wasn’t to their RINO “country club” self-congratulating liking. I’d rather have an out and out enemy Democrat rather than a silly, RINO Arlen Specter or Olympia Snowe backstabber. At least, a RINO pretending to be a Republican is worse than an out and out socialist, cause they can always be counted on for putting the socialist bill over the top with their “tie-breaking” vote. - We used to donate to the RNC every time they called, but not for a long time. Rove backstabbed O’Donnell. I’m not the only one who honestly feels like this.
Then the dems flew in and picked at the corpse as establishment Pubs are watching like hyenas.
Time to target the moderate pubs for the next two years and unite a conservative party against the far left democrats that are still left.
Discourage them to the point that they retire or jump parties.
I’ll never forget what they did to Joe Miller in Alaska. I’m liking Demint more ever day.
Good point. Repeal, and don't replace. How about that for a strategy. Repeal and stay out of the medical business.
Prosperity requires predictability in the law; predictability requires that the government stop the constant monkeying with the law. You should always balance the supposed improvement in the law against the corresponding loss in predictability.
Bull spit!!!
Is Pat Toomey a RINO? Is Marco Rubio a RINO? I’m glad that they will be the face of the conservative movement and not Christine. At the same time, I’m delighted that the liberals have chosen to keep dimbulb Pelosi as their spokesman.
Right. Liberty is the alternative, not further tinkering with unconstitutional socialist programs.
Another thing that doesn't go without saying, is the fact that half the health sector was already socialized before Obama even came along.
You'll know they're serious when they actually begin to remedy that. Until then? I don't trust any of them.
Shoot, they won't even talk about it, much less do it.
Maybe the impetus will have to come from elsewhere. Reportedly Texas is talking about opting out of the Medicaid program.
That would be a start. A small one, but real.
I won't waste my time trying to convince you as you have your mind made up and don't want to know the facts.
I know that DeMint is 100% on target!
Bingo!
Well, both men sure like hanging out with 'em.
I never said anything about supporting Castle. He wouldn’t have embarrassed conservatives because he never claimed to be one in the first place. He’d be just another boring RINO in a blue state, like Kirk or the Maine sisters.

LOL talk about projection
If we were only talking about conservatives VS RINO’s then I would agree with DeMint. I believe that there is no reason to think that a conservative can win anywhere, even in a blue state. Look, friggin Maine just elected a pro-life governor!
But we are not just talking about conservatives vs RINO’s. There are conservatives with a clue but unfortunately there are also conservatives who, bless their hearts, are quite wonderful people and are for all the right things but they are quite clueless.

What about tort reform, allowing personal insurance to be purchased across state lines and other free market reforms?
