Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fla.) is down a dozen points in his race against Republican Steve Southerland, 38 percent to 50, with 9 percent of likely voters undecided, according to The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll.

Southerland leads among males, females and middle-aged and older voters. He’s also winning 12 percent of Democrats.

Boyd, meanwhile, has high unfavorable ratings. The poll found 54 percent of voters gave him unfavorable marks to the 34 percent who rated him favorably.

The pro-GOP trend in the week before the election has been stunning. I’m glad Barack Obama is travelling the country reminding everyone of what a big mistake it was to elect him a couple of years ago.

“I’m glad Barack Obama is travelling the country reminding everyone of what a big mistake it was to elect him a couple of years ago.”

The other good thing about this is he is putting himself and his administration on the line in the hard campaigning. Makes it more difficult for the old media to claim a big election is not a repudiation of his administration’s policies.

It’s not just he voted for Obamacare in a conservative district. It’s even worse than that...Obamacare also included the government takeover of student loans. There’s a large Sallie Mae processing center here winding down its operations now. Hundreds of people are losing good-paying jobs. So people are doubly angry about Boyd’s Obamacare vote.

Hopefully this has finally convinced a lot of people that even supposedly “conservative” Democrats can’t be trusted because they will vote the party line when their party demands it.

(Of course, if people had been paying attention to his actual voting record rather than just reading his campaign materials, he would have been voted out years ago.)

Obama and Plugs are coming to Philly this Saturday to campaign for Sestak and Onerato. I can’t think of better guys to drive the final nails into the Dem political coffins in PA.

I’m with you. I have several friends losing their jobs at Sallie Mae. I voted against Boyd last time, but I believe this time may finally get rid of him. Steve Southerland is a great candidate. I have been helping him campaign. It boils my blood to see all these negative campaign ads parsing his words and lying about his positions. Steve is a former student of mine and is very well respected in the area. He comes from a very good family with solid Christian values. I know that he will listen to his constituents and abide by their wishes, unlike Boyd.
