District by district SOUTH CAROLINA-05 (John Spratt) House Budget chairman down by 10 points

Rep. John Spratt (D-S.C.) trails Republican Mick Mulvaney by 10 points, 39 percent to 49 percent, with 10 percent of likely voters undecided, according to The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll.

Mulvaney is winning independents by 23 points and leads among male, female, middle-aged and older voters. The only group Spratt leads is younger voters, but he’s winning that unpredictable voting group by a mere two points.

Spratt’s favorability rating is 41 percent, with 47 percent rating him unfavorably. And 43 percent said Spratt’s 14 terms in Congress were a reason to vote against him.

Spratt is the chairman of the House Budget Committee, and Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made him her point man on budget issues. Those ties have come back to haunt him. The NRCC has aired several adds highlighting his ties to the party leadership, including one where he’s called a “rubber stamp” for Pelosi and another where he’s shown dancing alongside the Speaker.

It is ironic, but the gerrymandering of Jim Clyburn's seat has put all the dems in one district in order to keep a minority elected. This makes it harder for dems to win other seats statewide.

Beware the unintended consequenses! :)

The race must be close, because I live in the district, and am getting a LOT of mail for/against Spratt. But, don't underestimate the Dem's willingness to do anything to win. Eg. - ‘forgetting to send our military ballots’.

THE PLAN
1. Get rid of all democrats.
2. Get rid of all republicans.

I was in the Pee Dee region of SC last weekend—the heart of Spratt’s district. Mulvaney had ads running at virtually every break; I didn’t see a single spot by the Spratt campaign. Pretty amazing for a 14-term incumbent. Earlier this week, an unnamed Democratic Congressman said many of his colleagues had “forgotten” how to run a campaign, since they haven’t faced serious opposition in years. That axiom clearly applies to Mr. Spratt.

Most of the Dems in Spratt’s district are too pickled on corn squeezins to even know what the hell is going on.

We can't touch that fool for another 4 yrs.

Our only hope is that Obama will appoint him Ambassador to Antarctica.

We were in the PeeDee last weekend as well. The “Sack Spratt” signs are everywhere.

There have been a lot of Spratt ads on TV in the Columbia area, and not a one of them shows John Spratt speaking. Last night I realized why when WIS showed part of an interview with Spratt. Oh my goodness, I know he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but he really does look and sound awful. My husband made the comment that Spratt looked feeble.

An election too far, John Spratt. You should have retired gracefully.
