This is not Buchanan. Buchanan was on the margins. This is far broader.

What this Galupo-idiot does not realize is that Buchanan was exactly right. Social issues trump economic issues.

Two decades later we slaughter babies and let traditional marriage lose all meaning. Our weak-minded secular-socialist society elects a budget-busting secular socialist bent on destroying our economy.

Our population is about to shrink, entitlements are soaring, and there is nobody left to pay for them.

Buchanan was right.

Pat never got 500,000 people to march on washington....twice. The analogy is extremely weak but this and other “you are gonna regret it tea partiers” is all they got.

The recession’s been over for a year!

But it won’t be talked about long...or people will realize the recession was over before Obama grabbed a trillion dollars for ‘stimulus’...

What the RINO’s don’t understand is that if the conservatives of the GOP walk out the party is over for them, literally. Yeah, the democrats will win for a while and the RINO’s are out of power, but even more so when the conservatives coalesce around a different party, they are for sure out of power. And the RINO’s are left with two choices, joining the democrats completely and why would they want a cheap version of themselves or being on the margins and still out of power.

I have been watching political conventions and the chattering talking heads since the Kennedy/Nixon debates. I remember Pat Buchanan well, he was not a friend of mine, and Palin is no Pat Buchanan, neither is the T party anything at all like the Buchanan Brigades.

Previous election cycles they’ve told us we need to be “broken glass Republicans” and vote for the party-chosen RINO. This year is demonstrating the motives of the “scorched earth Republicans”. If the RINO loses in the primary, they’ll not only do everything they can to make sure the conservative nominee loses in the general election, they’ll try to make the people that supported the conservative apologetic about it. It’s on display not just in the actions of sore losers like Murkowski and the party bosses like Cornyn and Rove, but also in the posts of more than a few on FreeRepublic.

Quoting David Frum isn't going to win anybody over.

But it does show just how wrong and off-the-wall Frum has been down through the years.

Wow. These media types just don't get it. This guy had to go all the way back to 1993 to try and find a pinpoint to the political upsets and the movement that's happening around the country. It's almost laughable if it wasn't so sad. This has absolutely nothing to do with the unease and anger so many Americans are experiencing. Really amazing.

Who cares? A RINO has been killed.

In 2012, there are 10 or 11 Republican Senators up for re-election, however, there are 23 Democrat Senators up then. Our chances of taking the Senate this year are very slim, but the chances of a 2012 takeover are much more in our favor.

Play the long game.

Hey John Boehner!

If you don’t distance yourself from this former aide in the next 24 hours, all you’ll ever see from me is copies of checks that bypassed the RNC and went directly to MY candidates!!

Don’t get me wrong: I’m not making this argument out of support for Obama but rather as a Republican who has seen Buchananism get trounced ...

Ah!!!! Is not the fear of the establishment politicians and their ‘pets’ (please forgive the pun) a thing of beauty to behold? “When in danger, when in doubt, run in circles scream and shout!” -Robert Heinlien

I can hear the shreaking, even as far away as Oregon!

This is what is going on.

The GOP Establishment is really engaging in stupid tactics here.

The reason they are doing everything they can to trash talk the tea partys, Palin Demint etc is the same reason the McCain supporters spent all their time here post 2004 elections trashing anyone inside the GOP who might be considered a challenge to McCain.

The GOP Establishment believes that by trashing outsider Republicans they make their chosen candidate more palatable to the GOP base. It is an old tried and true tactic of the GOP Establishment. It has worked for them before. It is how we ended up with McCain in 2008.

They think they can discredit the tea parties, Beck, Palin and Demint with these attacks

They do not realize the old way of doing politics is dead. They still think of this as a game, the tea party people, Demint, Beck and Palin realize this is war. In war people who shoot their own side in the back are considered traitors and dealt with accordingly. In this new politics the same standard will be applied. There will be no polite handshake after Nov where the winners and losers inside the GOP make up now that the latest election year game is over.

Rove, and the GOP Establishment mouthpieces in the media, face either ostracism from the Conservative base of the GOP as political traitors or ostracism from the Conservative base of the GOP as irrelevant, non-credible cretins.

So either way the Roveites in the GOP Establishment are creating a lose-lose position for themselves with their daily trash talking about the most vibrant force in the GOP today
