GOP Strategist Wary of Current Media Predictions

The landslide talk was based on two high-profile polls. One, from Gallup, showed Republicans with an unprecedented 10-point lead in the so-called "generic ballot" question -- whether voters will choose the Democratic or Republican candidate in their congressional election. The other poll, from the Washington Post and ABC News, showed the GOP with a 13-point lead.

There are problems with both polls. First, Gallup's surveys have been pretty uneven this election season. Indeed, Gallup has since released a new poll showing the generic-ballot question dead even, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence in its finding of a 10-point GOP lead. . . . .

With all the talk of a Republican rout, how will the press play it up if Republicans don't gain control of the house? Even if Republicans barely take control the MSM response will be that "Obama saved the day". After all they've been playing up a "landslide" for weeks, so anything besides the total evisceration of every Democrat will be reported as a victory for President Obama.

Perhaps I'm being too much of a cynic, but seeing Gallup essentially retract their "10 point lead" in the generic poll bothers me.

Good advice. Don’t count your votes until after they have been cast GOP.

Okay. I've had about all I can take.

Is there anyone besides me out there who doesn't give a rat's rectum what "the media" says about anything???

That's about the only thing that bothers me about talk radio. All the hand-wringing over what The NYT says or The Washington Post or CNN or MzNBC or any other outlet of The Professional Left just drives me up the wall.

Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!

It'll be trumpeted as a huge victory for 0bama's agenda.

The dems have been masterful at manipulating expectations that it'll be a 70-80 - seat blowout, when far fewer seats may be the reality when the dust clears. Because the bar has been set so abnormally high, anything less than 40 will be headlined as a relatively mild, temporary setback, not far off from the normal correction seen in midterm elections.

Further, 0bama's fawning media stooges will convey in glowing terms how he emerged from all this battered and bruised, but still as the captain of the ship...that he's "resolutely weathered the storm with the firm backing of the American people."

Watch for it.. that's how the SRM will play it.

I think the liberal MSM has concluded that Republicans are going to, in all likelyhood, take the house. So they are setting expectations so high that if Republicans “only” take the house by a couple seats, the MSM can spin it as Obama routed the predicted 70 seat gain and Republicans only gained a mere 40 seats.

Given the recent history of this administration I’m starting to suspect that all polling organizations are getting “visits” that change polling numbers.

Don’t stop what we’re doing. Help every Conservative candidate you can. We have to nullify the ACORN effect. I want to crush the Dims into oblivion.
