Exactly.
I think a lot of people had prepared remarks before the event and they don’t fit with what actually took place. Paul’s comment certainly sounds that way.

Beck’s rally was a bit churchyfied for me, but overall it was a positive uplifting message and apolitical.

I agree, but we should celebrate what is good, right?

Same here but I think the reason Glenn has hammered on the religion aspect for so long is to remind America that the call for freedom began in the colonial churches. For far too long Americans have been taught that politics was off limits in churches and that our founders wanted it that way. Its time we stop retreating on this sort of talk and speak openly and proudly of our faith or even our lack of it.

The event last night was really more for religious leaders as a means of encouraging them to openly confront the the socialist leaders of the new "moderate" churches. Men like Jim Wallis need to be exposed and discredited not only by Glenn Beck but by Rabbis, Pastors, and Fathers.

Simply stated its time to remember that our founders never sought to silence religion.

“It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”

George Washington

“What students would learn in American schools above all is the religion of Jesus Christ.”

George Washington. [speech to the Delaware Indian Chiefs May 12, 1779]

"To the distinguished character of patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian"

George Washington. [May 2, 1778, at Valley Forge]

Is it necessary that any one should [ask], “Did General Washington avow himself to be a believer in Christianity?" As well may we question his patriotism, his heroic devotion to his country. His mottos were, "Deeds, not Words"; and, "For God and my Country."

Nelly Custis-Lewis (Washington’s adopted daughter) George Washington.
