After the election of Barack Obama, the majority of Americans still were against the TARP bailouts, and the Republican Senate Minority mounted an effort to stop the release of the final funds from the program in January shortly before President Obama's inauguration. CNN.com reported on the vote, however the Huffington Post reported the vote as a decisive win for the President, the report reads:

Six Republicans joined with 45 Democrats and one Joe Lieberman to defeat a resolution that would have blocked the release of $350 billion in financial-industry bailout funds...

Three of the six Republicans that joined the Democrats swung the vote to use the last TARP funds we now know to go to foreign banks. All six represent exactly what we do not want in a Republican. Please remember this vote when you stand in the ballot box, this vote could have saved the American people $300 billion (with a B).
