Really? Folks in, say, Iowa, should be taxed to pay for benefits to local Firemen and Police in NYC?

I don't know if you've thought this through. Many people responded including police and fire. For days they were in the acrid air of ground zero looking for fragments.

When they let us cross the Verrazano Bridge again, as I did weekly, it was way past a month of smoldering smoke that could be seen on the bridge coming from the site.

Whitman said the air was OK when asbestos and other carcinogens were blown to kingdom-come. These people stood for each of us. Why can't the government cover their ruined health. Sorry it wasn't WWI mustard gas, but it was darn close.

McMahon’s people called Debi Rose (the woman who ran against him for the seat) an “Uncle Tom”. Democrats on Staten Island are so quick to call Republicans racists. When Republicans run a Black candidate, the candidate is called a “token”. Democrats don’t even run the “token” and call the Independent candiate racial ephithets.
