Sarah Palin arrives. May I call her Sarah?
The Hill ^ | July 14, 2010 | Bernie Quigley

Posted on 07/14/2010 3:28:56 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Some hated her because she is beautiful. One prominent Washington Post columnist and TV commentator scorned her because she had a Garfield calendar on her desk. Others hated her because she is a hunter. A few on the margins even hated her because she is white. But it is too late now. Sarah Palin has arrived. But beneath it all — beneath almost two years of slander and disgrace on the part of the mainstream press — was a real fear. And for good reason, because Sarah Palin is a political genius.

While her detractors were in college reading Derrida and Michel Foucault, she was playing basketball. It made her a relentless competitor. It made her a great strategist. While the others were modifying the existing establishment to fit their own needs, she was building her own house with her own hands. And now she is building her own political establishment.

Supporters, like Dick Morris, say questions will arise about her quitting her job as governor of Alaska. But it was a bold, brilliant and necessary strategy. She wouldn’t have had a chance against such a hostile press and political establishment otherwise. Since then she has led the way at NY-23 — Rick Perry and Tim Pawlenty followed. Since then she faced off against mainstream party people George H.W. Bush, Karl Rove, Karen Hughes on behalf of “W,” Dick Cheney and others who supported Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R) in a Texas primary.

She supported Rick Perry, and Perry won in a landslide. It was a definitive moment. Since then she has assumed all of the creative qualities of the Tea Party movement and left the rest behind. Without her it would have been a wandering horde of disgruntled rednecks and peckerwoods. But most telling, when Mitt Romney went South to support Nikki Haley in South Carolina’s governor’s primary this past spring, it barely made a bump. When Palin went, Haley jumped double digits and this week Haley’s picture is on Newsweek.

Now Levi Johnston, innocent and naïve but at heart a very good young man from Alaska who unknowingly became front man for the venomous horde of creepy things in the night which control the world, has apologized. And The Washington Post’s Kathleen Parker, newly minted Pulitzer winner who on Sept. 26, 2008, just days after Palin arrived in the lower 48, called her, “an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who is clearly out of her league,” today writes:

“For what it's worth, I get a kick out of Sarah. May I call her Sarah?”

Jut alors! The Palin phenomenon is “a new feminine mystique,” she says now. Who knew?

I don't know who Bernie Quigley is, but I take exception to his characterizing the Tea Parties as a collection of rednecks and peckerwoods (A peckerwood is a rural white southerner, usually poor, undereducated or otherwise ignorant and bigoted, the term gained popularity in the deep south during the early twentieth century and was meant to be derogatory.)

I don’t think politics works like that. A non-endorsement would be considered a slap. She isn’t campaigning or fundraising for him, so far as I know, and even if she was, it’d be under the heading of loyalty. President Reagan endorsed RINOs and had one for a vice president, which is to say that nobody’s perfect.

Those pictures just say it all, don't they?

It sure would be nice to feel as if our President actually liked the country and her people that he was elected to lead.

OT: Jeff, it is sooo wonderful to see you back on the threads, posting. I know it can't be easy, but it always makes me smile when I see your name on a post!

Always keeping you in my prayers, my FRiend!

You have to worry when they start being nice to her. I did see that open borders amnesty Rick Perry was mentioned.

She had me at hello on Aug. 29 2008 and any well informed freeper knew of her well before then. Still the most electrifying day in politics in a generation or more.

Have to disagree with that statement. He knew he was hurting people, and he got paid to do so.

I am with her all the way

I'm more than willing to consider other candidates, but I agree that we are very unlikely to find someone better. I'll donate generously to her campaign and probably take the year off from other clients to work for her.

Thank you. No, it’s not easy...but it is something I can do between therapy, and something that needs doing.

After surviving the unbelievably intricate and intrusive three major surgeries to remove my tuner by completely removing my sacrum and then rebuilding me, and then the 11 weeks in the hospital, I give all credit to my Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. Then my angelic and unbelievably caring wife, then those many, many people who offered prayers and exercised their faith on my behalf.

I now view each day as a special gift from my Savior and I have promised Him to try and make each and every one fount for His Kingdom, for my family, and for our beloved Republic.

My favorite chrissy fag moment was in NY during the Republican Convention... when Zell Miller told pi$$y chrissy, “It is a damned shame that they outlawed dueling”. He meant it too!

Where does loyalty end? Let me ask you a few questions. If McCain decided to run again and ask Sarah to also run again as VP, would she do it and not run on her own because she “owes” him? Or would she have the cajones to tell him, I love you John but I'm running myself this time around. Then would she ask him to run as VP on her ticket? Would she run against him if they both ran? Go ask her.

A promise of love and one that, I'd bet, was already being fulfilled before this new journey of yours had begun! ;)
