Remember this? “Hi friends, Ralph Williams, Ralph Williams Ford.” Or Hobo Kelly? Sheriff John and Dimaggio carrots?

Sure do. I was one of Sheriff John's Lunch Brigaders. I also remember Bob Yeakel, "the Lucky Dutchman," an auto dealer who sponsored Sunday afternoon auto races, exhorting viewers to "just get off that couch--don't stumble over the kids" and come down to his dealership. The Lucky Dutchman's luck ran out in November, 1960, when his plane crashed while trying to make an emergency landing on the San Bernardino Freeway, killing him and most of his family.

I was born in February of that year so I have no recollection of the “Lucky Dutchman” or his ads. Southern California was so different then it’s like we lived in another age.
