Gerlach will face primary opposision.

Welch is the one that swapped districts, so he starts off with a bit of a black mark. I’m not crazy about Gerlach, but we need to be focusing on winning other Dem-held districts and not worrying over the ones we currently have.
Sounds like a rich jerk shopping for a house seat.
Welch is staying in, but the erstwhile frontrunner, state rep Curt Schroder, is dropping out and running for reelection to the state house (and not very happy about it): http://www.pa2010.com/2010/01/schroder-drops-out-of-6th-district-race/
Schroder may be a tick to the right of Gerlach and this is unfair to him but it’s the right move politically.
Take heart Curt Schroder, your time will come. The mustached man will have his revenge. ;p
If Schroder were black, then he could be elected to Congress while sporting a mustache. But he’s white, so his only chance is to (i) shave like Geoff Davis (R-KY) did (having previously lost with a mustache) or (ii) move to North Dakota. : )
(Actually, mustached state Senator Jerry Kilgore of VA would probably beat Congressman Rick Boucher in the VA-09 if he ran against him, so maybe the ‘stache can make a comeback, like it did in MLB with the Giambino.)
Phil Gingrey had one when he was elected. I’m dismayed he’s since shaved it.
Henry Waxman has one. But he is a ferret rather than a man so I guess it doesn’t count.
Senator Hoeven will be a great boon. This is only the beginning. :p
It’s too bad that weird guy that looked like Teddy Roosevelt didn’t beat Max Baucus.
