Kansas Congressman Todd Tiahrt is among members of Congress urging President Barack Obama to withdraw the nomination of Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The letter, a copy of which was released to Kansas Liberty by a Tiahrt spokesperson, was drafted by Rep. Doug Lanborn, a Colorado Republican, and will be sent to the president tomorrow. The names of every cosigner of the letter will not be released until Tuesday.
The letter is the latest effort by conservatives trying to stall or turn back the Sebelius confirmation attempt. It points to Sebelius close collaboration with the abortion industry, in requesting that Obama withdraw the nomination.
We are deeply disappointed by this nomination and believe a nominee to such an important position should, at the very least, not have commitments to the morally reprehensible practice of providing abortion in almost every circumstance, the letter states.
The letter points to the sizeable contributions Sebelius received from late-term abortionist Dr. George Tiller, contributions that werent fully disclosed by Sebelius during a Senate hearing.
It suggests campaign contributions may have influenced Sebelius vetoes of several abortion-related bills. Tiller and a Tiller-sponsored political action committee, ProKanDo, have been very important to Sebelius' campaigns. In just one instance, Tiller donated more than $200,000 to help defeat Sebelius' opponent in the 2002 governor's race.

I hope that Sebelius fails. The vote is expected to take place tomorrow, April 28.
Hope this pro-abortionist is withdrawn.
Calling Sam Brownback.
Kudos to Congressmen Tiahrt and my representative, Doug Lamborn.
Any Republican that votes to confirm Sebelius should be kicked out the party or voted against when re-election time rolls around. I don’t care if it does cause the Rat to win. This is the line in the sand right here. There’s no excuse to confirm Sebelius. She’s the most pro-abortion Governor in America.
Three Republicans who were leaning in Selebius’s favor are now reconsidering.

She’s losing ground.
Maine’s two RINOs are going to put her over the top. That’ll give her 60. Ugh!

Hat-tip to Coleus for assembling this data, THANK YOU!
Some Senate Republicans were concerned with Sebelius’ stance on abortion but were prepared to support her; however, they now are reconsidering, CQ Today reports. Among the Republican senators who were considered supporters of Sebelius but who might now be reconsidering are Sens. Sam Brownback (Kan.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Arlen Specter (Pa.) (Wayne/Armstrong, CQ Today, 4/24).
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Senate Republicans last week reached an agreement on the Sebelius vote, under which eight hours of debate will start at 10 a.m. on April 28. The agreement also stipulates that Sebelius’ confirmation will require 60 votes instead of a simple majority (Kaiser Daily Health Policy Report, 4/24). According to CQ Today, with some Republican senators reconsidering, it could be a “far closer confirmation vote than she or President Obama would like” (Wayne/Armstrong, CQ Today, 4/24).
The latter two are well-known fence-sitters, but Brownback is a serious disappointment. I hope he does the right thing.
Does that reporter have special knee pad to us when seeing the empty suit?
