Snarlin’ Arlen started out as a “Kennedy Democrat.”

In the late 1960s, Specter decided that party loyalty could ask too much. Despite his Democratic leanings, he accepted the Republican nomination for district attorney in Philadelphia.

So, not only has Specter used the “party loyalty could ask too much” line before, but he is and always has been a Democrat first and a Republican by convenience.

Spector is beyond political repair. Common sense would dictate his removal as an elected Republican representative. His loyalty to the democrat party tops his obligation to represent the Republican party which has carried him as their senator all of these years. His multiple health problems and his age of 79yrs are enough reason to retire him. If he dies in office a probable democrat governor will replace him with another socialist democrat senator or like minded pretend Republican. The Republcan party cannot afford to support his reelection efforts and must field a strong, proven Republican. We do not have to keep making it easy for the democrats to essentially have two senators in Pa.

geeze...he's quoting Kennedy, when Kennedy was talking about NOT voting for somebody in his own party, cause Kennedy hated the guy.
