Protect Republican Principles in NYC

Dear Fellow Republican,

With a successful Special Election Win of Eric Ulrich in the Queens 32 district, the Republican Party in New York City is showing hopeful signs that we can build on our core principles one race at a time. In order to do that, though, we will need to field candidates on the local level and for citywide office this year.

We will only take a step backwards if we, as a Party, throw our support behind the Mayor and allow him to run on the Republican line. in 2001 and 2005, the mayor fought and won his desire to run with no other candidate for citywide office (Comptroller & Public Advocate). In his eight years as mayor, we have not seen a growth in the Republican Party. Some argue he has money, but what good is his money if we continue to lose race after race, because we do not distinguish ourselves from the Democrats?

Today on the Daily News blog, Liz Benjamin reports that the Brooklyn GOP is wavering.

I think that someone is going to call for a vote," [Chairman] Eaton told me when I caught him in between calls this morning. "There's a big groundswell of support for Bloomberg in Brooklyn all of a sudden. I have a big Excel spreadsheet of all my leaders, and I'm trying to find out who's a 'yes' and who's a 'no.'

We must let our chairmen know that as Republicans, we do not support a Bloomberg candidacy on the GOP line.

I ask everyone to email the Brooklyn chairman today at info@brooklyngop.com

Tell him we wish to have a mayoral candidate that believes in Republican principles this year. One that will not impose nanny-state policies, one who will keep our taxes low, one who be less arrogant with New Yorkers and more aggressive with those in the city council.

I also ask that you consider emailing the other county chairmen as well.

Chairman Craig Eaton - Brooklyn GOP info@brooklyngop.com
Chairman John Friscia - Staten Island GOP chairman@sigop.com
Chairman Phil Ragusa - Queens GOP info@qgop.com
Chairman Jennifer Saul - Manhattan GOP contact@nycrepublican.org
Chairman Jay Savino - Bronx GOP secretary@bronxcountygop.com

Don't let the New York City Republican Party fumble along for another four years. Demand a fiscally conservative urban Republican choice for mayor.

Thank you,

Daniel Peterson
